I was looking at a few tac lights and found them to be expensive. So i came up with a inexpensive way to get one. Step 1 Go to harbor freight or other tool store. I found harbor freight has good deals on all the Chinese tools. Find these flashlights. They are on sale all the time. www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?function=SearchStep 2 Find buy borrow or attain a normal scope ring like this. Step 3 Put it together and TaDa. You have a tac light. A few pics of it on my scar. Oh they also have the flash light in black but didn't change it for the pics.

That's just too cheap. You pay fir what you get. That little light probably has 10lumens and only throws the light 20ft. My $20 flashlight has 220lumens and throws the light 400ft. Again, you get what you pay for.

Not sure anybody besides the mentally challenged would really need a tutorial for that, but...good job...
I mean, those things are really, really, really not-powerful, and I don't think it would even be that good when you need a tac light. Not to mention they look awful.
If you really want to use that, you're better off keeping it in your gear somewhere and pulling it out when you need it. Or getting a small flashlight mount and putting it on a pistol- it might not look quite so out of place there.
G&P makes some pretty decent tac lights that aren't as expensive as $300 surefires, and put out pretty good power. I was using a G&P light in Farmington this past winter and I loved it. Also, Surefire G2's are nice and only cost ~$60 or so.

A G2 is $40, actually, and you can get them in OD and tan now.

My opinion is a tac light does 2 things. Prevent people from shooting you when you shine it in their eyes and preventing you from tripping over stuff and seing where you are going. My cheap little light does both of those fairly well. Now it does look like a piece of shit but its only temporary. I just upgraded all the internals in the Scar and got a CIRAS and am getting a hydro carrier possibly so it works for now. Maybe if I paint it black it wont look as shity or find the black one. For me this was free. I borrowed the scope ring from my m14 and a freind gave me the flash light.

Dude... That little Led light will not blind anyone... I had one of those nightfire 9's off of shortusa.com... and it was a POS and only threw out a decent amount of light in a 10X10 room.

I dont think I want to leave people seeing spots that doesn't sound cool. Just to startle them giving me time to make a kill. A big plus is that a dimmer light is not as plane as day to trace back to you. A bright light will instantly give up your position. A dim light will take a second.

Oh ok, so I was kind of right...I remember how Dahm had an LED one, and I thought it was something like $60 or $70. That LED was pretty bright... sure left me seeing, well, literally nothing, one time. It was dark out at night and he shined it right in my eyes, and for about a minute I couldn't see jack shit outside I have nothing else to say.

When I shine it in the dim lighting at Farmington CQB, I see spots just from the reflection I have nothing else to say...
