Well I've got the RPK, but due to the range I'm getting on it (70 yards) I'm looking for something hopefully with zoom, so I know when I hit someone. I can aim just fine with the iron sights... I just crave something more. I'm looking for help at picking out a legit optic for the RPK, any serious suggestions you have to offer are welcome.

A Kobra maybe? I'm not well versed in Ruskie stuff, so that's about all I got. But I know Jump goes totally bonkers for Russian stuff. Ask him maybe?

I thought about a Kobra, however those are only 1x, I'll shoot Jump a PM though.

I considered the PSOP 4x24 with 400m range finder, however, looking at them, they all seem to be for the SVD side mount, which apparently is different from the AK side mount? I don't really know if there is a difference, or what that difference may be, but my AK is drilled already for the AK style side mount base.

If you can live with the illuminated 1000m reticle, that same site has a PSO with the AK mount. Or you can get a POSP with 400m non-illuminated reticle with the AK mount.

I'd love to read a review after you get it all together. If I ever build an OpFor loadout, I'm going to be looking to get a similar sight myself.

Big Texas, from what I've researched the POSP3 (3-9X42) is compatible with an AK mount. Whether or not one meant for the real steel will fit an airsoft replica that I couldn't tell you.
But I've been researching the same trying to find an optic for my CA RPK myself. I just decided to settle for the A.C.M clone Kobra 1X red dot. Planning on having it by OP: Pinchpoint on the 25th.
I can show you a couple sites that sell more than just the 1X red dots, and PSOP's but those optics go for about $700-$1000 which I don't think you are planning on spending that much for just an optic.
Definitely let us know what you end up getting!

We had this discussion over on the Asshat forum before, and we came to the conclusion that while none of us was sure we'd seen an optic on a RS RPK, that the PSO or POSP would be acceptable. I really don't know what else you would use other than an authentic Ruskie style optic.

So you can all say you've seen a RS RPK with an optic...

That, would be terrible to shoot. Between automatic fire and the awkward position your head would be in, how could you possibly hit anything?

I'll let you know when my POSP gets here... haha.
Ruskies have been doing it forever, so there must be something right with it. If all else fails i'll save the POSP for the AKMS that's in my future.

It would be a terrible shot Thor, but the Ruskies use the RPK as a DMR platform most of the time. So it wouldn't matter as much I guess, but it would still suck ass.
And Tex it looks like you are halfway there. You already have a funny looking hat!
