Hello all I'm considering getting the Marui VSR-10 Pro Sniper from www.airsoft-war4.com/w4_rifle.php?b=Marui and I was wondering if you guys felt that it is a good sniper rifle. As for the people saying start with an AEG I already have an AEG and I would like a sniper rifle. My friend currently has a really cheap like $50 one and I like to use that so I would like a higher quality one that is good. Also I don't currently compete in any big matches just with friends where we just shoot at each other until the pizza gets there. Thanks in advance.

The VSR10 is a great sniper rifle, if you consider playing at the big events you should also consider upgrading it to at least 500 FPS to be effective with it. I haven't had one but many people on the forums do, and most like it.

VSR10's have HANDS DOWN the best hop-up systems of any bolt action rifle on the market, and that includes after-market.

HOWEVER, they are not a good sniper rifle STOCK. That means you'll have to drop hundreds (quite literally) on upgrading it to be a good sniper rifle. But once you finish it, it will (most likely) be amazing. So if you've got like nearly $1k to drop, go for it. If not...don't bother.

If he's only doing small pick-up games, I don't think he really cares about upgrading it.

As far as upgrading is concerned I would probably upgrade it a little bit but not a ton. As stated I just play in pick-up games. I would probably upgrade it to so it's closer to 400fps and more accurate. Any tips on upgrading the rifle closer to the specs for a price under $150? Accuracy is more important than speed to me just incase that helps with choosing upgrades.

Tightbore barrel and a new spring. That would probably not even run 100 bucks. Just bear in mind that if you upgrade the spring in particular without doing any of the rest of the internal parts, stuff will eventually break.

If that's the case, then yeah you probably don't have to upgrade it much. Like Thor said a tightbore would be the first thing you should do, and then maybe a new hop-up bucking if you need it. TM's hop-up buckings should be fine, but you never know... A spring would be nice to get the FPS up, but like Thor also mentioned, will wear away your internals faster if you don't upgrade them too. You could upgrade the spring a bit and then upgrade the sears (or just one of them...I don't remember which one is better to upgrade first) which wouldn't cost too much and give you a bit more reliability with a higher spring.

You could probably do a tightbore + spring + the sears for under 150$ Go for it.
