I was thinking about a continuous 24+ hour game where players would eat and sleep on the battlefield. I couldn't find anything on MIA but I did find a thread on arnies www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=162893 . It seems really interesting if someone were able to organize something this complicated. Has this ever been done or attempted before on MIA?

The link works fine. You have to be a member of Arnie's and also be logged in to view it.

I'd be down for it, but I know some people wouldn't.
That's why it hasn't been done here before. You need the ideal conditions for it. A nice large field, for one. That way, fighters could make decent attempts at making their camps in safe places.
Another condition would be that people need to be willing to get: a.) guns that would last for 24+hours straight, batteries and ammo included;
b.) bring camping materials, and spend time IN field setting up stuff, possibly under fire (this one is kind of key, since a lot of people I know just want to shoot stuff);
c.) there would be NO way that this could be just another $20-$30 dollar OP. Aside from registration fees, each player would have to bring enough of their own food, water, and ammo to last.
I'd be interested to see how it turns out, though.

For sure man, I did this before with a big group of friends. We had about 50 players and set up to camps and slept under the stars with patrols guarding when some people slept. I never did though, me and my buddy redneck snuck up and redneck started sniping people in the enemy camp while I crawled into the flank and started knifing them, it rocked.

This would be fun, but night time games tend to become camping (no joke) both sides end up sitting all night and waiting for the other to move...just make sure you have objectives around the clock to keep people interested and the action moving along

Relish made some good points. But if if a 24hour game actually was to happen I know I'd spend the cash to invest in extra mags, ammo, batteries and what not just to try it out.

I'm pretty sure people would just get too tired and stop playing. After about 10 - 12 hours there would only be a couple left just shooting around aimlessly.
At the 2 day Op I was at (sleeping overnight.. not in game), so many of us were so tired by the 2nd day that we didn't even play. We shot around a bit at stuff but never actually played.
I forsee the same destiny with a 24 hour game.

In fact, if both sides were to try to get some shut eye, each side would in turn try and take advantage of it. It would provide opportunity for action as well as rest, though both would be of poor quality and quantity.

Well, I myself had planned a one and a half day game, it is going to have regular hour long breaks for resting, charging batteries, eating, cleaning up/changing clothes, and about 6 hours of down time for actually sleeping from 4am- 10am.

This sounds like a good idea but two problems that come to mind. Likely getting your tent shot full of holes and having to wear your goggles while sleeping.

I think you would literally have to have a safe zone for both sides strictly for camping/sleeping outside of the field. I know it's not realistic but for safety it would probably be necessary. I'm really intrigued by this idea however. Because this is the kind of stuff I've always been into.

So far all I can think of to prevent the tents being damaged are to use sleeping bags only, or cover the tents with tarp. Personally I enjoy using a sleeping bag only when I camp, but I have a feeling not everyone else will. The weather could also a big issue without having a tent. If we were to have tents, one simple fix would be to throw on a tarp. I'm fairly certain that a bb would not pucture a tarp and they are fairly easy to aquire.

There is a group in the UK that specializes in OPs like this. The way they do the sleeping thing is ether; A) You can sleep in a tent in game with full seal goggles on. B) You can sleep in a designated area were no game play happens I think they used a barn for this. C) You can sleep in you vehicle in the parking lot. If something like this could happen I could it could remove some of the safety issues and ect. Edit: I found the group's website: www.ta-events.co.uk/events/phoenixrising/pr3/rules/

Having played a numerous 2-day MilSim games before, they never usually work out like many people have said.
By the time the second morning rolls around, most people are too tired or just don't have the desire to play the second day.
The best 2-day games I've been to have just been run like a normal Op. with the usual breaks and down-time between scenarios. Then a night game to give the players the feel that they are playing during a abnormal time of day. (Since most games are obviously played during daylight) and then see who shows up for day two and go from there...I have nothing else to say.
A monetary way to have a good 2-Day game is to charge $40 (Or XX amount) the first day of play, and then reimburse the players $10 (Or XX amount) for coming back on day number two.
Or if you really wanna be a tough guy, give them the refund at the END of day number two. That will guarantee they stay for the long haul...I have nothing else to say.
