Contemplating getting a sniper rifle and I'm just wondering what scope you guys would recommend?
I'm hearing by a lot of people that anything more that a 4x zoom is just overkill, it's only airsoft.
Anyone got any recommendations? Experienced snipers expertise would be very helpful :-)

Don't get a sniper rifle, we have enough wannabe snipers as it is.

Umm, well at least with me I don't like fixed magnification scopes, I prefer a scope that has an adjustable magnification. Even though on a sniper rifle it may not be needed as much, as to say on a assault rifle but I was looking for a scope for my Aug A2 and I came across this scope while looking for one myself, and just ordered it and it's on its way to my house as we speak. UTG Bug Buster 4X32 Mil-Dot Red/Green Illuminated Mini Scope with 1 Inch Tube www.shortyusa.com/cart/index.html?UID=1233156067-68.40.39.153&RID=1&NL=&kiosk= (excuse where it came from... I have nothing else to say) It has illuminated red/green reticles, 3yrd, 20yrd, 30yrd, 50yrd, 100yrd, adjustable magnification and it cost $49.99 It is the mini version so it's a little smaller, but I've yet to find the full size version, if they even make one.

For airsoft, Mojji, no exceptions.

I roll with a Mojji 3-9x40, had it for 4 years now. Not a scope to be putting on a clone rifle though.
3x is all you need, but its nice to have the variable zoom for scanning. You can find a pretty good airgun scope for cheap now-a-days.

Go for a Leupold replica. I've had a couple of em' (Still have a Mark 4) and they're very nice for the money.
They have windage and elevation finger turrets as well as a variable zoom adjustment ring near the eyepiece going from 3X to 10X.
Like Livonia said, you don't really need the high magnification for shooting (Unless your gun is uber-zeroed in) more-so for scanning and finding targets.

^ Agreed on the Leupold reps ^
Pick up an M1 or M3 replica scope. Even the cheap Chinese ones are nice, at least for what Ive seen. Try matchstickglobal.com . They have some good ones there.

eBay has some good Leupold replicas as well. I think I got mine from there for just under $100 with HK shipping included.

I agree with the guys above. I have a 3-9x x 40mm and is real nice. As they said u won't want the magnification for actual fighting but for scanning it is really nice. Higher mm objective is also helpful because you'll get more light in the lens. I've actually really wanted to try a 2-7x scope. I think that would be about perfect for airsoft. Lower magnification is nice for following a moving target.

eBay has some good Leupold replicas as well. I think I got mine from there for just under $100 with HK shipping included. Same here, I think it was something like $75 after shipping. This is a solid Mark 4 replica, a buddy of mine who's on Northville SWAT mistook it for the real thing when he was handling my gun.
