The game start time lies solely on the players not the SFOD guys or anyone hosting the game. Personally I show up about an hour and a half before the scheduled start because I know that once I get there I'm gonna start talking to Crazy about what random type of turd or dead thing he has cleaned up since I last saw him and will get delayed severely.. I have nothing else to say Like Tex said, I don't like it when people show up 30 minutes before the game starts, and then talk and screw around like they have been there for an hour. If they were to show up late and actually put an effort into gearing up, chronoing, etc. I would have no problem with it because things to happen and I have been on that side of the fence before as well.

My only complaint on the whole operation is how I always miss the damn driveway. Sign please? Seconded! I'm lucky to nail it by the third pass, I have nothing else to say.

As an SFOD member I can answer the question of putting up a sign. We are unable to put a sign up because of the neighbors across the street aren't as open to the whole airsoft scene. Hence the no sign doesn't attract unwanted visitors. As well as our field is right of a high traffic street anyone could see that and cause issues. Can't use a sign. Sorry.

What about a balloon on the mailbox? Or is it not possible to throw a b-day party w/o neighborly interference?

MattyB to be honest with you I don't believe so but the neighbors are strange across the street.

Disguise it as a b-day party. I can honestly say I pass it (sometimes twice) every single time I attend a game, which is all the Sunday games.
As for tardiness, I think you should be more strict on when the games start. Maybe try and get a second chrono since that seems to be a major hold up. Oh but, don't get a Madbull chrony 'cause the one at Farmington blows. I may just invest in one myself and bring it out with me to help you guys out. I think those F1 shooting chronos are pretty good, but they require light, which when me and my team get there, there is usually not much of.

goingcommando,
We stress the use of proper English grammar around here. This is a forum dedicated to high quality information sharing, which necessitates high standards of the medium with which we communicate. Please make an effort to type like you care in the future. That means using all of the fun little tidbits of our written language, like punctuation, actual sentence structure, capital letters, and good spelling. Failure to do so in the future will result in official forum warnings and eventually a ban.
Please read the Forum Rules if you have not yet done so. After that, read all of the special rules for the individual forum sections. They're stickied at the top of each section. When you're done with that, you should probably just read every stickied thread on MiA. I know a lot of D Boards don't care if you know and follow the rules, but believe me, we enforce them strictly here.

I see things from both sides on this topic.
On one hand, I see why the people who show up on time and early want things to get rolling and started by the designated time. If I was showing up promptly or even early, I'd be upset with sitting around doing nothing for the first 1-2 hours I was at an event. I understand too that many people simply can't make Sunday games an all day and partially into the night kind of thing. People have to work Monday morning, have school, or have other priorities that come into play. It's understandable to want the event to start at the time it's supposed to.
I also understand that some people have legitimate reasons for being late for events. I fall into this category. I've tried time and time again to force myself to get enough rest on Saturday night before an OP, only to end up being wide awake until far into the AM and having to be up in 3 or 4 hours. If I do this, I go to an event and have a horrible time. I'm grumpy, tired, and usually can't make it to the end of the scheduled games, let alone the night games. I've realized that working second shift and then trying to "adapt" myself to a normal schedule during the weekends simply doesn't work. For this reason I usually get to sleep as early as I can on Saturday and plan on being a bit late for Sunday. If I get a good nights sleep I'm rested and usually have a kick ass time at the OP. To me it's worth it to get a good sleep and enjoy myself.
I know some of you were quick to pass judgment on the people who usually end up being late. Some people really deserve the flak if they are just being lazy, but some of us have legitimate reasons.
I say start the games on time. Then the people who show up late can jump in as they arrive. It's not like it's going to severely hamper the games too much. I wouldn't even mind if I had to pay a couple more bucks for coming late or having to sit out for a game. There is plenty of time in the day and I'd rather have a full day of playing on a good nights sleep then be miserable and only play for a couple of games before I am ready to pass out.

Sounds like a good idea to me, but I don't think it's necessary to charge extra for those who show up late.
