First off, please do not take this as any sort of a bash, just curiosity. I am wondering if SFOD has any plans to improve on game time planning for this coming year. Last year (my first year) the events seem to always start later than planned. Your field is my favorite to play at, out of the several other fields I played at last year. I lived 15 min. away last year, now I live an hour away, so I (along with many others I would imagine) would love to get as much game time in as possible. In August, I brought my brother out to his first game, it was scheduled for 11am. It started at 12:15pm. It seems that chrono is usually late to be set up..... which sets the scenarios later than scheduled... so on. Again, please don't take this as an insult to your field/team, I'm just curious if there are any steps taken to improve this for the coming season. I know we all are busy and have cramped schedules, so we would love as much time out there as possible.
Thanks for all your great events last year and I look forward to more amazing events this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How much more time do you need? We sometimes play into the night!

I know that the games can sometimes play into the late night, but not all of us can do that because of family obligations, and most games are on a Sunday. A lot of us are somewhat bound to a Sunday morning/afternoon schedule. So when the games are scheduled to start at 11am, but they don't start until after noon, it kind of shortens the day for us. Again, I more than appreciate the games they do host, I am just wondering if they are going to improve on the comments that were made on a lot of the "After Action Reports" that the game started way too late.

I wouldn't count on it, they are trying to accurately guage when everyone will be there. They post that the game won't start til 11 because they are estimating that the people will show up at 9 and then they will be ready to go by 11. Really people don't show up til 10 or 11. So if the people playing would show up at 9 then you wouldn't have a problem starting at 11. Encourage all the player's to show up at 9 I guess.

Epidemic hit the nail on the head. No matter what we do, we simply cannot control the fact that people are too lazy to show up on time so we can get started as scheduled. Now on another note, we just came through the harshest part of winter, and bad roads do happen that you cannot always plan for here in Michigan, so that usually becomes the setback for winter games. I hate to say it, but there are only soo many of us to get thinsg ready, and we can only work as fast as our chrono reads and people get their shit in order to start. We do try and do things in time, but osmetimes it just doesn't happen. Now, as for the Sunday things, our last 3 events have been on a Saturday. We are trying to get mroe saturday games though for that reason. Also, just to enlighten, the reason for soo many Sunday game,s is that Corey(Grey Fox) and his parents all usually work on Saturday. They work for GM, and often have to work weekends, so we only ahve the time alloted that they are home to work with for setting up game times and whatnot.
If anyone has any other questions, comments, etc, please feel fee to post them here, not in a PM, b/c you may not be the only one with the question you've got, so post them here.

Not really, they could stick to the schedule, and be strict about it. It's not easy hosting, but if it's something that happens every event, maybe a, "if you're late, you don't play" rule should be imposed. I realize that this will make them take a hit to their profits, but it's something I considered doing for my future events as well. I can't stand non-nonchalant people who walk in 30 minutes late and then take their pretty little time getting ready, slowing it down for everyone.
This is something that every event host really needs to work on, very few seem to have it down and get stuff done in a timely fashion. The Hellfish game I was at was done right with everyone on time and actually waiting for the field owner to unlock the gate at the paintball field. Maybe Knief will post his suggestions so that others can do the same.

Yeah, I haven't attended any of the SFOD events personally, but I'm hoping to attend the next SFOD event surely.
As for the events being offered on Sunday. It's usually the only day of the week that most people have off or available.
As for the timing of the events, they don't have to start at 8am in the morning but have the registration/staging by 9am. And enforce a strict 10am game start as Big Tex just mentioned and if any players come after 10am then they shouldn't be allowed to play.
I have nothing else to say don't know if any of you have ever done an autocross event, now they are strict. And if you arrive late, you for sure forfeit your chance to attend the event (and the money you paid).
They have regristration start by 7:15am in the morning, obviously it's a little different bc it takes people longer to prep their cars, change tires, etc. But when they say the first car rolls off the track at 9:55am they do. I have nothing else to say I just love waking up at 6am to go to those! I have nothing else to say

SFOD can only do whats physicaly possible. I dont care games start late because no matter what I have a good time...To be honest 30 minutes late is not bad. I know this past weekend I was short on staff (sunday) me Ghast and knife got the CQB games up late because we were short on staff. Its hard to deal with everyone sometimes. SFOD has one really nice field! Every time I attend a game there they have improvements. Keep up the good work guys.

Last summer, I ran a game every Sunday, sooo... that's a decent number of games. I know a lot of organizer's have run a lot more, but for my first summer, it wasn't bad. At first, I was pretty lenient with game start times, as the summer passed, I began to lose patience with late arrivals. Now, we start when we're ready, and whoever's late, sits in the staging area. No-one's really out anything, since my games are free, but people do miss play time, and in a sport that's already expensive enough, that sucks.
On another note, I have my chrono run by a tank of an ex-army sergeant, and my voice is a former Marine with +5 to scare the shit out of you when he's mad, so it can be pretty easy to get everybody to fall in line.
On the SFOD side of things, they have a maze up by the staging area for pistol/shotgun games, so ask the organizer's if you can get a quick game in while you're waiting, I'm sure early birds like you will come play too.
Honestly, with how many players SFOD have at a game, it's hard to get everyone's poop in a group. Hell, at WarLord, we had 50 guys or so, and we had a bit of a wrangle to get them in order.
This summer, if we have any downtime, I'll be opening our pistol/shotgun course for quick games to keep everyone moving. But, as far as I'm concerned, SFOD makes up for any tardiness on their part with a great field and great games.
BTW, I'm usually late to most games, and it takes me at least 2 hours to get to SFOD, so I feel your pain.... but worse.

The games that we have played out there have all started late. By the time are battery's would die and we would be leaving there still would be plenty of people playing still into the night. I think they run really good game.

Most games start late. I have yet to go to a game that was started promptly on time. Between talkative players gearing up, faulty chrono's, and deciding when you have enough to actually start it's not easy to throw a game together. SFOD does a pretty good job of making sure everyone is briefed and ready for action. My only complaint on the whole operation is how I always miss the damn driveway. Sign please?

As an SFOD member I can answer the question of putting up a sign. We are unable to put a sign up because of the neighbors across the street aren't as open to the whole airsoft scene. Hence the no sign doesn't attract unwanted visitors. As well as our field is right of a high traffic street anyone could see that and cause issues.
