I am in need of a vest that is capable of carrying G36c magazines. Im not sure what they would fit in and what they wouldn't. I was thinking that they might fit in regular magazine pouches, but I don't know becuase of the shape. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Buy M240 pouches. You can fit 3 or 4 of them in one. Actual pouches designed for the G36 mags can be expensive.

M240, M249, M60, and what have you pouches will work well, the problem you might come up against is that pulling out one could catch on others.
A double G36 mag can fit in a triple M4 mag pouch (think old ALICE pouches). There are many companies that make them now in multiple camo patterns and MOLLE attachment.
If you just want a complete vest with sewn on pouches...something for a machine gun (SAW vest, M240 vest, etc) will be your best bet. Possibly AK but I don't know about those.

If it is designed for 3 AK mags, then it will work for 2 clamped G36 mags.
I know from experience.

Just pick up a Molly vest and then you could use saw pouches, triple M4 mag pouches will fit 2 g36 mags, double M4 pouches will fit 1 g36 mag, or you could do the mag well conversion for like 30 bucks and use M4 mags.

If you have trouble pulling G36 mags out of a pouch because the side snap-lock tabs keep catching on things, consider breaking the tabs off with a wrench or something torque-y. It can be done more neatly with a coping saw or hot wire.

I use M4 pouches, which can snag, but there is a method to getting them out smoothly. You just have to twist them counter-clockwise when pulling them out. Tactical Tailor makes G36 mag pouches for MOLLE, they're actually dual 7.62mm pouches, but two clipped G36 mags fit perfectly. Look at image 4-6 www.tacticaltailor.com/762308doublemagpouch.aspx
