Ordered a PCU Level 4 Windshirt from 'em for a steal. The only commo I received was in the form of an automated invoice and receipt. No tracking number left me a little anxious as to where my package was last week, however. Box got here around noon, exactly 7 days after I ordered it. I say ORC is Good To Go. A

Whats the deal with those PCU jackets G?
Everyone seems to be picking them up. Are they basically Army-ish windbreakers with velcro on the sleeves?

The Level 5 jacket is the one you are referring to, with the cool velcro bits, its also considered a soft shell. I got the Level 4, which is quite a bit more than just a Windbreaker. Firstly, its light and breathable as hell, so it would work in the summer pretty well if worn with a base layer which would be a UA top or similar. The Level 4 also beads any water that comes into contact with its fabric, tested it my self today and works flawlessly. Because of this, if you wear it over a fleece you have warmth and water resistance. Pretty useful in a blizzard. Easily one of my top two purchases in airsoft next to my Warlord...

So what version/model would one buy for very hot weather?
Or are they only for cold weather?

For the most part, the PCU system is meant for cold weather. Each layer builds upon the last for the most part, but some are obviously skipped, ie, no level 5 on level 4. You could probably use the windbreaker for the summer if it's raining. The level 5 is to thick and heavy, you'd overheat.

Level 4 and 5 would both work for the summer. I've seen pics of both in use in the Sandbox and in A-stan and last time I checked, those were two relatively hot countries... I would disagree, I was wearing the Level 4 all day and it gave me no warmth whatsoever, and like I said, it is breathable as hell. In all honesty, a BDU top is more warm than the Level 4. In terms of the descriptions that ORC and BT give me, the Level 4 and 5 are basically the same, save that the Level 4 is generally used for more intense activity while worn with a base layer and was also designed to be worn over BDU tops and Fleece jackets. I also gathered that the Level 5 is used standalone, and not meant to be layered. I'm prolly wrong of course, as usual.

So does this mean that you will soon be switching to ACU as a primary now? Assuming you got it in Alpha Green?
Also, hows the stitching on the PCU's? I was looking at picking up a level 5 since they have em in stock and from some of teh reviews I have read, they all mentioned the stitching not being up to par.

It snows in Baghdad during January....as well as Afghanistan It also can get cold at night, and a lot of those photos, check the dates. I guarentee the ones with the Rangers wearing their PCUs and Seals wearing theirs are during the colder months. I would like to pick up a PCU for this time of the year though.

Much to my chagrin, Hoover is right... afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5huPkYk4bGVvo1Sa1tWeH-tgENiFwI love learning things. And Gent, I just looked over it for ya and the stitching is good, but not great. There are a few loose threads here and there. Function is still intact though, water still beads, etc. Overall, a perfectly usable piece for Airsoft.
