If the story line is true, becareful that it's not plagurisum, or an unauthorized story of real events with out the victims permission. Otherwise it could be in violation of copyright, and that wouldn't be a very good thing, espically if SpyOps is sponsoring this event.

This is why all major ops steer away from real events. To much liability of real events, and the fact of offending someone, etc. Plus if proven that the story line was base from a real life event, any peoples associated are entitled to royalities.

Just another reason why fictional stories are used, or historic based scenarios use generic or famous names (like G.W. Bush) at large corporate sponsored events (i.e. Irene).

It only took me less than 15 seconds to find this. If this was a paper, you would fail for Plagiarism.

The story posted in the SpyOps article is a violation of Copyright. But, what the hell do I know, not my problem if the author of the story line (or TV Station KPHO) comes after you for making a profit from their story.

They were the elite "special forces" of the Mexican military, trained in the U.S. at the School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Georgia and sent to "wipe out" one of the most powerful Mexican drug cartels.

But these soldiers deserted and became the muscle for the very cartel they were supposed to destroy.

According to this Department of Justice "Intelligence Bulletin" obtained by the 5i-Team, these rogue commandos now known as "Los Zetas" may be heading our way.

The normally busy streets and busy stores in Nogales Sonora have been a little less bustling lately. Caesar Fierro says, "It's been slow this year." Caesar Fierro says his empty store is the result of rumors about a drug war. Tourists are scared.

Out on the streets, other vendors play down the speculation the Mexican Commandos are already here. Tony Marques says, "The Zetas.. I don't think they'll operate here you know." Marques says, "Maybe in the big cities like Juarez , Tijuana , now you're talking seriously like that."

The Intelligence Bulletin we obtained says the Zetas are responsible for hundreds of violent drug-related murders. It says they've executed journalists, murdered people in Dallas, McAllen and Laredo, Texas. They even detained two DEA agents and recently they've shot at Border Patrol agents. At the Arizona border with Mexico agents are already seeing a major increase in violence.

Jose Garza says, "Last year we had documented only nine shootings against our agents. This year we're up to about 18 shootings already."

Agent Jose Garza says his agents have seen no direct evidence the Zetas are responsible for the shootings here, but as far back as three-years ago, the Zeta-like tactics started to appear.

In March of 2002, U.S. Customs agents were involved in a shootout south of Phoenix with an enemy they had not seen before. Equipped with automatic weapons, body armor, and state-of-the-art communications, in a word - it looked "military."

Kyle Barnette says, "I'd be lying if I didn't say it concerns us."

Now, as a drug war between the Gulf Cartel to the east and the Tijuana Cartel to the west starts to heat up, the Justice Department bulletin warns: "The violence will spill over the Mexican border into the United States and law enforcement agencies in Texas, Arizona and Southern California can expect to encounter Los Zetas in the coming months."

Jr. I have no problem with having fun and I'm not saying it won't be a great Op.

My problem is, the story line is a violation of Copyright! It wasn't creatively written, it was stolen from a TV news story! And frankly, I'm very disappointed that two people whom are highly respected in the Airsoft Community would steal someone else's work.

If you would like some original work, I'm sure someone on the boards (including myself) would be willing to create and allow you to use an original story, and then there wouldn't be any copyright violations or stealing others work.

Hopefully you can respect the fact that people on this board are looking out for you (SpyOps), I'm not out to ruin your Op, or piss on your parade, I (and MIA) only want the best for the community. And I don't think it would beneficial to the MIA Community if SpyOps was sued under Copyright infringement because of a lack of creativity.

Or if you just don't care and have no morals that your stealing someone else's work, then fine. The choice is yours.

Skypilot, he isn't publishing the story in a newspaper and saying he wrote it, he is using it for a scenario for an airsoft event. I highly doubt anyone is going to sue him for copyright infringment.

I could have swore I changed more than that, jumping back and forth between word and Powerpoint I must have missed something. I stated it was a real story, I wasn't trying to rip anybody off. I'll fix it tomorrow when I have time.

And by the way before you slander SpyOps or anyone, I did the article with no help. This was just something I threw together to try and set the mood for a great game, but at the same time I totally agree with you. It will be changed, completely re-written.
