If you don't plan on spending much on a gun, then being a sniper is not for you. Both guns are bad.

lmao frig i wish i had that to just piss away. That was a poor choice of words It's better to "piss away" $1,000 and end up with a gun that is acutally worth something and will be able to hit a target, instead of "pissing away" $100 on some cheap-ass springer and have it break 3 days after you open the box. If you don't want to pony up the dough for a nice "Sniper" rifle, then get an AEG instead and save up for a nice rifle.

I'm no sniper by any means, but in my limited experience, lots of new players are intrigued by the prospect of becoming a sniper. Unfortunately in airsoft you really need to spend about a $1000 on a rifle for it to be effective. On top of that being a sniper is only for a handful of people. I wanted to be a sniper so I bought a Super 9 (please control the laughter) the thing was such a piece, that it turned me away from the whole concept. And really most cheap rifles are junk so, I guess what I'm trying to say is; if you think you have a god ordained goal in life to become a sniper buy a nice base gun and work your way up over time. If you haven't thought this through 110% then get a bar-10 if you must, or go a completely different route and use the money on a decent AEG (non echo-1, IMO). If you really must get a rifle then I would suggest the bar-10. My only reason being that, there is a ton of upgrades/modifications you can do to it. www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=35488.2275 It's 94 pages long so, I hope you got a lot of time. BTW: Where the hell did this idea for a metal stock come from? Are there ANY metal stocks in real steal? Did you mean wood? Edit: on second thought the Barrett has a metal stock ;D...

not really when you have other expenses, life happens right? what is the point is being a "true sniper" then if it will cost you in upwards $1000 that does not seem even close worth it in the air soft market place. taking in the fact that you can get a top of the line (what ever your version of that is) AEG with various upgrades. and that would maybe at best cost $600 odd dollars. hehe X knew where i was going with on the metal stock

You know, we should just tell all the people that want to be snipers to get something like the Echo1/CAW ATS shotguns; it doesn't "look the part," but run some .28's or .30's and you sure as hell get your $185 worth in terms of accuracy and reliability.

The ATS shotgun is single shot, but from reports I've seen it's not a bad gun at all. Hell, I might get one for shits and giggles now.

It's not even so much that I'm a shotgun type of guy, it's just that the gun does a similar if not better job of what the cheap sniper does for only a little extra cash and no upgrades. If you really want a single shot airsoft gun, I highly recommend it because even if it turns out you don't like "being a sniper" or whatever you want to call it, at least it won't be because you're disappointed with the gun.
Edit: Additionally, because it's pump action you can fire much faster than with a bolt action, so if you're getting rushed that might be helpful until they hit your engagement distance. The only bad thing I can really say about the gun is that the magazines are a total pain to take out. I traded mine to a buddy and gave him some UTG shells and made makeshift magpuls with zip ties so that they can be removed w/o a knife or screwdriver. The standard mag isn't quite that bad, there's a tab built onto it to pry with your finger.

taking the time to get the mag out with I'm too lazy to spell a full word out. Please mock me. fingers while under fire means I'm too lazy to spell a full word out. Please mock me. dead, I have nothing else to say.

No, it means improve your skill at reloading or improvise.
