I have to say, after this event I have a lot more respect for airsoft snipers. In the first 2 games I was shot 4/7 times by a sniper, and then later in the day I rolled as a sharp shooter I racked up the kill, especially in the 300 game. I've never used a scope in a real airsoft game, nor have I used my MAK-90 for other than target practice and I am surprised how effective it was, I think the most shots I fired was at gbiscuit to get through the plants he was laying in. I may have to role as something other than shock infantry from time to time.

Yeah, I was sniping all day. It seemed like most of the time I hit people they thought it was a ricochet because they only called their hits about half the time. That, and I was shooting them through cracks in bunkers.

This was my first OP as well and I must say it was the most fun I have had in a while playing airsoft. Much thanks to S.F.O.D to putting it on and I look forward to Gold Rush! ;D

This was my first Op and I definitely had a good time. Thanks a ton to S.F.O.D. for putting it on and thanks to Mayhem in particular, I don't envy his position one bit, trying to keep everyone organized and on track seems like a tough gig.
The city is great. There are a couple of 2nd story areas that are off limits for safety reasons, hopefully that can be fixed, but it is obvious that a lot of time and energy has been put into this field.
@ Seven, you might want to post about that mag in the "Lost & Found" thread

Yeah, I rolled as a sniper throughout that entire day (just about).
Good times, I remember a few zingers and good whacks.

...One complaint - people ignoring the "dead men don't talk" rule. That happened to me on three occasions when my teammates were heading to respawn they are spouting off about enemy positions. That's not cool. Keep your mouth shut and go respawn... True that. I had people asking me "Where did you get shot from?" and "Where are they?" after I was hit out. Of course I didn't say anything. There were plenty of people walking back to respawn telling everyone where they got attacked from. I'm not sure if people just weren't familiar with the rule or if they just weren't following it. Still had a great time though and it was definitely one of the best (if not the best) SFOD event I've attended. I want pics!

...I think the most shots I fired was at gbiscuit to get through the plants he was laying in... That was some good shooting, didn't even see you in that Russian Sniper Suit. I was prolly down to low though, meh, tactical Blue Farmer John/Lumberjack shirt for teh lose. I had a nice time rolling with the RATS for a little while as well as BSing with Kustom and his crew while we were pinned on that path at the rear of the city. It was also nice to meet the rest of the Asshats; BigC, Roughneck, Judge, Rogue and especially my fellow Ranger-SEAL, Holly. (Thanks for the loan Major, I loved using that 74.) All in all, I had a good time, can't wait to get back out there.

Good day, as to be expected. Once again, it is always nice to put more faces to names. Although, a few seem to still escape me even though I've probably shot alongside them dozens of times now.
I did have a few problems though. There are a few people that really need to listen better. I had several instances where I'd get hit, the yell "hit" and get up to respawn with my hands up only the be lit up again directly from the front. Honestly, when someone gets up with hands in the air, you should have enough common sense to know what's going on.
[glow=red,2,300]GOGGLES!!!!!![/glow] For all those who have been around for a while, you know the damn rules. And for those who have been around for a few weeks already, you should know the rules by now. GET SOME GOGGLES. I know I wouldn't wanna make the shot that somehow ends up in someones eye b/c they were wearing shop safety glasses. You all should also know, that any fields/hosts that do not REQUIRE the use of full seal goggles, or don't strictly enforce it, their events will not be posted on MIA if the mods find out or know about it. I don't know about ya'll, but I'd really like for SFOD to continue offering our amazing field to play on. I apologize for sounding soo harsh about it, but safety is a major issue, and it is not to be taken lightly. There were just too many people with simple shooting glasses on, and it happens at every event. Every time, it's always: "Well, I didn't know", and then they get let slide. That NEEDS to end. Ya'll know the risks and dangers, so I shall not preach them in this thread. Now, go out and spend a few bucks on a good pair of full seal goggles. Doesn't have to be the best of the best, just something that is respeactable and worthy of use. If you simply search around, you can find inexpensive, yet still affordable goggles.
My only other beef was the people not calling hits. No matter what you do, some just don't listen, and it always happens..and it's getting really annoying.
Onto the good stuff... The event ran pretty smooth once it got going. We did have a rough start though, but it was sorted out and everything was put in motion. The flags at "bases" was definately a good twist to the game, I'm glad it worked out as good as it did. Made it soo much easier to tell friendlies from enemy when approaching the bases. The gameplay was very fast and a lot of fun. I'm still reflecting on the 300 game we played, that seemed to just go on forever, with so few of the "300" left in the city. I was able to tag 9 people with my pistol in the game once the attackers started getting into the city and I had to drop my rifle due to engagements, so I'm quite pleased to finally break in my Desert Eagle. I am also pleased with the weather. I was expetcing to get rain..lots of rain, and all we got was that drizzsle right after the briefing, then it got nice and sunny, blue skies, and was a great day.

Honestly, when someone gets up with hands in the air, you should have enough common sense to know what's going on... Some people also need to make it a bit more clear when they are out. It was pretty obvious when those going back to respawn were carrying their guns above their heads and/or had a kill rag on but there were some cases where I spotted some players walking around with their gun in both hands on their way to respawn. There were a few instances were I got really close to taking a shot at some folks because I really could not tell if were playing or going back to respawn. I was sneaking around behind an enemy base with some members of my team and we had a damn hard time telling who was out or not. I actually took a shot at one player who was holding his gun in both hands and had no kill rag out, only to get yelled back at "Does it look like I'm playing?!"....seriously? This has screwed me over a few times too. There's been a few times where I didn't take a shot at a player or group of players because they look like they are heading back to respawn only to get blasted by them once they had spotted me. I don't want to just take a shot at everyone that I'm not sure about because then I'll just have to deal with a bunch of pissed off players. It's pretty hard to tell though when you're walking around without a kill rag and you're carrying your gun like you would if you were playing. I really liked the flag system too. As you already stated Connors, it was a lot easier to tell when your team was holding a base or not.

You all should also know, that any fields/hosts that do not REQUIRE the use of full seal goggles, or don't strictly enforce it, their events will not be posted on MIA if the mods find out or know about it. Not completely true, an event can be posted but if they stray away from MiA guidlines they must post the disclamer stating they are not following standard rules: Caution: This Event Fails to Conform to MiA Safety Rules. Participate at Your Own Risk.SFOD events will have this disclaimer in the future if the shooting glasses rule stays in place.
