Ok, I just got back from a week's hunting at my 'hundred acres so I think i'm a bit late for this. Before we left, I got a chance to scare the hell out of hunters in adjacent properties by shooting the following:
[glow=red,2,300]Romanian AK47[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]Remington 30-06[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]Savage 270[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]S&W .357 Mag[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]S&W .38[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]Mossberg 695 Slug Shotgun[/glow] This was the first opportunity I had to shoot my AK. OMFG it has no recoil! It sounds just like it does in Counter Strike (wearing earplugs)...... Oh god i'm in love with this thing! I mean, if you could hear this thing being shot; it has a loud report, followed by a rolling crackle. I tried rapid fire (squeezing the trigger repeatedly as fast as possible), and smoke was gently rolling off of the receiver after five shots. It was beautiful ;D

Darn@hunting and guns. I really wish I didn't live in a subdivision, I wish I lived in the boonies (or close to it ;D) and hunted and shot guns and lived the good life and had friends and....umm.....never mind. ;D
I really do wish I owned some real guns and could shoot them whenever I wanted....d'oh!

You shot a Mossy 695? How does your shoulder feel? Is it still there?

Believe it or not, the 695 has about the same kick as a pump-gun. It's ported barrel reduces the recoil by about 15%.

Spectre, did you say a Barret 50 cal? A Fricking Light Fifty? Was it the semi or the bolt-action?
For those not familiar with the Light Fifty, it is a .50 rifle that has a mussle velocity of over 2,800 fps and can hit targets just above 2,000 yards away (thats 20 football fields).
I didn't think anyone outside the military could get one.
Awsome story!
By the way:
7.62 SKS
Colt (and BM) AR-15
Winchester M70
Remington 870
M134 Vulcan
(that last one might have been a fantasy)

He said (the way I read it) that he went to a gun range, and gun ranges can have some really nice guns I bet. Class III gun range would be sweet to check out...

Ed - yes it was a barrett .50 caliber rifle, however it was not the same one the US (and many other nations) use in military service. i saw the Barret M95, a bolt action single shot .50, that is reportedly even more accurate than the M82A1. And as far as i know anyone can purchase a .50, as long as you have the funds to do it, according the the "Complete Book of Guns" 2001 edition, the MSRP for a Barret .50 is approx. $3500, Carbon One Tactical .50 MSRP 3,950-4,750 , Robar RC-50 - not stated but it is guaranteed .5 MOA at 1000 yard shooting the "Appropriate Ammo"
