*Post Update* My personal experience with Young's / EmpireAirsoft.com, in this thread was before I worked there. -------------------------------- I just thought I would leave my review for Young's Army Surplus located on Westenage in the Kalamazoo/Portage Michigan area. This week I got a bug up my ass about wanting an S-System version of the M4 which started my hunt. I spoke to the guys at Armory Airsoft who were unable to locate one for me. Unfortunately none of there wholesalers had any in stock but they pointed me to Power Edge. I've personally not done business with Power Edge so I kept looking around a bit. I did some google searched on "Tokyo Marui M4 S-System" and found that empireairsoft.com had them in stock for $344.99 which was only $10 dollars more then Power Edge. Not to mention it turned out empireairsoft.com is in fact Youngs Army Surplus in Portage. Can anyone say local pick up Anyway I got into Young's and the one all the wall was $374.99, not $344.99. I mentioned the site and was informed that it was old and out of date but that they would give me the gun for the $374.99 out the door. Doing some simple middle school match in my head, this was still still a pretty good deal because the shipping from Power Edge in Hawaii was a fortune so I bought one and I couldn't be more happy with it. All in all I guess it wasn't too bad of a price and I love this gun a lot.

Hold off for a few weeks, Yong just hired me to do website work for him. The website hasn't been touched in over a year because his son who used to do it moved away. We just bought a computer for the store front and internet hookup is on the way. In a few weeks his intent is to have a running, competitively priced website with all his current stock listed. No promises on how this is going to work but I'm trying, and I will also try and keep everyone on the boards updated.
Thanks guys

You should also talk to him about pricing his in store stuff a little more realistically. While I don't mind paying a premium for being able to walk into a store and touchy feely before I buy I'm not paying $150 for what I can pickup online elsewhere for $100. I'm up in Kalamazoo semi frequently and the few times I've stopped in there to look and see what he has I've always just as quickly walked out the door due to the rape'ish pricing. You guys accomplish that and it'll go a long way with the local SWMichigan airsoft populace.

Yeah, I've been talking to him about prices and I think he will become a lot more competitive once things get going. I realize there are many things that would make empireairsoft a great place and I'm trying to pass that on to Yong but again no promises, the language barrier as well as him being a little stubborn often stands between us as well. Thanks for the input, I intend on using input from the airsoft community to persuade him to make things more to everyones liking.

I don't work much at all as of yet due to the internet not being installed. It will be installed in the next few weeks and then I'll be in there quite a bit. Don't get carried away with special orders and things of that nature, I'm trying to start small (prices being competitive), and progressively go further and further. We'll see how things go in a few weeks then I'll push other airsoft interests.

I've personally had shitty experiences there. Overpriced items, items breaking soon after purchase. His pushy, zealous attitude.
His customer service is piss-poor... Virtually non-existant at all.

My experiences with mr. young are quite funny. "Taiwanee gun no good gun" I have nothing else to say. Its almost funny how everytime we go into youngs im with CantoXII and we end up leaving the store with his customers and they end up buying their stuff from us. He needs to work on his people skills and yes he is quite stubborn. Not to mention paranoid about people stealing from him. He's also LAZY. I asked if I could hold a gun cuz I was gonna buy it but he said "no, no it too high" so I was like ok skrew it. Lost a sale there.

( I'm not reading all of this right now, but I've been to youngs)
Thier airsoft prices suck, but they are an awesome group of people. Very helpful. I have several things from them. It's like 4 hours away from here, but we made the trip when we were going to our summer house 2 years ago.
I got camo for like 14$ there, I payed 80 for my new set.... New compared to used, but even still, used stuff here is 40$ for a set. Gear is much cheaper there. I like it a lot.

I've been in and out of Youngs a few times...bought a couple of camo things and a canteen. I have bought some paintball gun parts from him to in emergency situations where HITW (hole in the wall) didn't have what I needed. For future reference though HITW sells utter crap for airsoft...i wouldn't even bother making a trip there.

The only reason I goto Hole In the Wall is for the Flying Color's BB's.

They aren't ideal (IMHO) but they seem to work fine for me.

My gun jammed three consecutive times in a row. I unjammed it and threw my bottle of flying colors away. I then opened up my package of 21stCA BBs and put them in, I haven't had a jam since.

I keep trying t explain things to him about airsoft but yep, he is a stuborn guy. I keep trying to get him to stock some Classic Army stuff but damn, his prices suck so I'm not sure if I'd want to buy one there anyway. Only reason I picked up the S-System there was because Power Edge was the ONLY other dealer in the U.S. that I concidered reputable enough to buy from AND had one in stock without a 2 to 6 week wait Being that Power Edge was in Hawaii I was looking at a week plus wait plus high ass shipping costs or I could pay a little more ($10 ish) at Youngs and get it the same day.
