Yea fuck you...government ain't giving me anything like that...They actually just took our IOTV's back and are giving us IBA's for training. It's the state funded National Guard guys that get all the money spent on them.

Shit Geoff, is that your SOP - 15+ mags? Can't say I envy you, I would also recommended mounting some of that directly to the FAPC if at all possible.

Bonesaw with that many magazines you should really take your sights of your gun... Its obviously extra weight you don't really need.

Tom, my SOP is 14 as a rifleman, if I'm the saw gunner that is a different story. As for that current photo there is 18 there and its strictly for weight reasons to get the feeling if i'm either a rifle man or saw gunner.
Troub, its not my choice to have that many really, its what the unit sop is and really like I mentioned above. Its only for weight reasons right now i'd cut it down to 14 when I'm told if i'm either a rifleman or a saw gunner.

I was just teasing mate. Also, that is a ridiculous sop, are you mounted or something?

Troub, if your on a patrol out in the boonies of Afghanistan, the average engagement distance is more than 500m. The 5.56mm round sucks at those ranges. If you have to lay down suppressive fire, you'll go through a lot of magazines out there. 14 is fine. It wasn't uncommon for me and mine to carry loads like that. You can never have enough ammo.
