I'm confused, all the pictures were giving me flashbacks of some wonderful moments, until I saw the kitty. Now I'm all messed up and don't know if I want to go blow something up, or smell some flowers. Thanks, I need to go see the chaplain now.
Just so you know multi-cam has been floating around the groups since it came into existence. Don't forget when deployed AR 670-1 (Wear and Appearance of Army uniforms and Insignia) goes in the toilet. Blue jeans are a common piece of uniform, along with a tactically deployed middle finger to whoever says a long tabber can't wear what they want.
And nice patches.

Thanks Jump. When we were taking the Contractor pics, I was debating putting on my blue jeans, but I just picked up the Khaki BDU pants at the G&K show in G Rap so I was swayed.

While I've seen the tactically deployed middle finger in action, I've never seen Multicam (in pictures or in person) in an operational area. I've seen some personally owned stuff on LF, but mostly in pics taken next to the refrigerator.
The T.D.M.F. isn't seen quite as often as it used to. There's huge pressure to standardize, but you knew that.
Good luck on your 18x. I hope you've already started roadmarching.

You're right, the only guys who I know personally that use it are the B team types, mostly snipers. It is out there though, I can't think of anybody who wouldn't use it if given the choice to use any kind of cammo in the world.
The road marching isn't necessary, intead of walking 40K in a day just take a hammer and hit your feet with it. Them promptly stick them into a meat grinder, or take a cheese grader to them. Either way you'll have the same results. And remember, they say dont put tape on your feet but 100mph tape is the best mole skin/anti-blister substance in the world.

I made the mistake of doing my first roadmarch in a year, while simultaneously breaking in new boots. Ham-bur-ger. It's been a week, and the new skin cracks and bleeds into my socks every day.

And walking a LOT more than six miles.
See if you can't make EIB standards before you ship. 12 miles, 3 hours, 35 pound ruck. You'll have to leave the rifle at home, but you'll still get a pretty solid idea of the type of suck that you're about to subject yourself to.

Just put a shit ton of weight on your back and start walking to build up those calluses. There are a lot of things you learn over time that keep you from falling apart. Little things like hot spots on your feet, sharp pains in certain parts of your body, things you don't know how to react to until some old grunt passes along the info he learned 15 years ago.

I think I need to see a Tactically Deployed Middle Finger Patch. It would make a great team name as well. "Team TMDF"

I was thinking the same thing. Just think of the Team Patch on your sleeve...
