Got something new to throw on my web belt. I was just watchin' some TV (I think the quick and the dead was on) and my dad asked me to clear some of the brush surrounding the lawn. I wasn't too excited but then he handed me a machete So now I have this wobbly machete. After I got the chore done, I sat down and took apart the handle. I fixed the wobble by wrapping some teflon tape around the part of the blade that goes inside the handle. Then I wrapped some electrical tape around the handle for a better grip. I decided that I wasn't satisfied with black for the color of the machete so I got some taupe, OD, and brown spray paint. I covered the handle and the edges with masking tape so I wouldn't paint over them. I gave the machete a liberal coat of taupe (basically, taupe is khaki). I let both sides dry for about an hour and then decided to go from light to dark so I put on the OD. I Held the machete up horizontally and rotated it as I made broad green stripes. When that was all dry (about another hour) I used the brown paint and sprayed it close to the green so that it looks more blended. I took off the masking tape when everything was dry and it looked great. Overall, I think it looks a lot better than black but I think that my brown stripes look a little too thick and dark *shrug*. Don't worry, this blade is not intended for knife kills. I live in sort of a brushy area so in some games it is a luxury. I want to put some clear coat on it so that it doesn't chip away but I'm not sure if it would be to glossy or not. I still need to mod the sheath to get it to fit on my fat belt but here's pics of the machete: EDIT: credit and thanks go out to Arnie's Airsoft for their gun painting guide "Painting 101" that paved the road for me. arniesairsoft.co.uk/index.php?filnavn=/projects/painting101/painting101.htm

I doubt they would allow him to carry it. Why?

Situations may get out of control in some situations, that's why you have to make sure that if a situation escalates, neither has something that could dismember the other. Because as you all know, that is just an unfair fight.
Progressive, great car insurance. But for others, your on your own.

Anonymous - Hey, Nightcrawler, you suck. NightCrawler - WHAT! *Slice*. Anonymous - Hey! My arm! You captured me quite well Andrew I have no intention whatsoever of bringing my machete to any event. Not only for the safety of myself and others, but to avoid stink eye as well. The machete is strictly for use on my own property. MiA event regulations strictly prohibit the presence of real-steel weapons, real blades (with the exception of multi-tools and the like) and bludgeoning objects. I wouldn't bring my machete to an event in the first place but rules just save me the trouble of even thinking about it Thanks for the compliments on the paint job... and for the ego boost I didn't want to say anything until the project was done but I've decided to make a wooden handle for the machete. I stumbled across this project and thought "I can do that" I've already got the wood (best I could do is oak. Eh) I'm lazy enough for it to take me about a week. My inspiration: arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filnavn=/projects/wood_grips/index.htmAlso, I just got my bayonet in the mail today (dummy blade of course) and I'm bringing it to the perimeter tomorrow to get a sheath for it. Expect pics tomorrow. Can't wait to put that thing on my vest. *EDIT*: Got my new sheath today for ten bucks. It was a secure fit for my dummy bayonet but it took of the chrome paint in some spots. Still figuringing out if I wanna leave it the way it is, fiddle with the sheath to stop it from scraping, strip the paint from the blade and repaint it (either black or maybe chrome again). Lots of possibilities. When i first got the bayonet, I notcied it was light and felt cheap. Quick fix: I put a role of pennies in the handle. Now it has a commanding weight. I threw a rawhide strip on that lanyard ring to secure the sheath to my leg. Looks, feels, and works great. Couldn't be happier. An addition to my vest well worth the total 15 bucks (10 for the sheath 5 for the bayonet). bayonet/sheath picI started working on the wooden handle for my machete the other day. I got the oak and marked the outlines of my plastic handle halves. Cut them out with a jigsaw and started contouring them. Mostly with a hand file but I smoothed everything with a powersander. Got 1 half almost done. Still gotta do some very very fine sanding, drill with my countersinking bit, and stain and furnish it. The other half of the handle is still at the contouring stage. No pics until the handle's done.

Got a new pouch to fill up some more molle on my back. I got it at the perimeter. I think the card said "Survival/Utility Pouch". I got the pouch before having an intention for it so I though about what else I could carry. I turned it into a first aid pouch. Nothing special really *shrug*. It's kinda just there to take up space. I'm thinking about putting a red cross or something on there.

Yeah, pretty much. It wouldn't be too big. Plus, I already have that big indigo patch on my shoulder, so my visual ambiguity has already been jeopardized. I don't mind. anyhoo, could use it to stash goggles and gas and such maybe I always have my goggles on my eyes, on my forhead, or around my neck. It'd be hard to get them off my back without assistance anyway. Most gas cans (I've never seen any shorter ones) won't fit in my pouch, at least not the cans I buy. I keep my gas in my buttpouch. The pouch is already full with first-aid stuff anyway.
