BROWN BROWN BROWN. Tan is stricly a desert color, brown is by far the most versatile color you can get. I have a Coyote brown plate carrier with brown pouches, and it works well with BDUs, DCUs, MC, MARPAT, whatever. The best part is it doesn't look odd if you put MC pouches on it, it goes together nicely. Of course I may be ranting when you are in fact talking about the same thing I am I'll take some pictures when I get home later if it will make the MC gods happy.

Look at it this way Red, Redcell calls it Coyote tan, and he's rarely ever wrong, and if he is, he'll kill you so that no one will ever know the difference. And since we're all still alive, I'm pretty sure it's coyote tan. Unless there's a coyote brown too and we just haven't heard of it.

You'll hear it called various things, but it's all pretty much the same thing. It's TAN, different companies just call it different things. There is very little difference in the colors, other than maybe a minor shade change. It really shouldn't make much difference.

Coyote tan and coyote brown are two different earth tone colors. M. Coyote is commonly referred to as coyote brown. M stands for MARPAT... and if you guessed that it's a U.S. Marine Corps color you're right. Coyote tan is really just a shade of khaki, and I have only found a couple of fabric sources that sell it under that name. I know of no official ties to any branch of service for coyote tan. *Edit- Jump, I'm partial to coyote brown too. Looks good with just about anything in my opinion. **Edit- Pictures of a coyote brown plate carrier against MultiCam BDU's are available in Enkidu's post, below. As a matter of fact, you can see MultiCam against OD also. miairsoft.proboards70.com/index.cgi?board=events&action=display&thread=1170260462&page=2

Rather than triple edit my last post I'll just add a new one.
If you'd like something a little lighter than M. coyote I'd suggest Eagle Industries' khaki. It's a perfect match to the blended green/tan found in MultiCam.

Some of HSGI's tan is also a good match with MultiCam. Unfortunately I know they've used a couple different shades at times, which can be a pain.
I've also found that if your brown or tan gear doesn't look quite MultiCam enough, a little dusting of spray paint can make up for a lot of lost ground.

At long range, will the shade difference really make that big of a difference? This is camoflague, not a fashion show.

I have real multicam, ranger green molle vest, and od pouches. If you go here: www.enkidulives.com/WMI21107/ on the 8th set I am in the top right picture. The camera shot shows a bigger difference in colors than the human eye does but I also wear ACU and Woodland so OD was my choice. I say if it's your only rig/camo option go brown but if you will be using woodland go OD.

I myself prefer coyote tan or coyote brown with my MultiCam. It blends MUCH better than OD does, especially when festooned with sexy, sexy frosteegear pouches.
BTW, frostee, I managed to score another 2 full rolls of 1" Coyote Tan PALS webbing from TWI. You want, I give.
