i just got a new AK-47 from WTS ;D about an hour ago. i love the thing, when i saw them in pics a thought wow way to long for cqb altho there not really a SWAT gun I have nothing else to say it looks SOOOO real. i was thinkin on selling my whole SWAT outfit a had for my mp5 and getting some black pj's, sandels, red head band, and a green vest thing of some sort. but anyways does anyone else have a AK-47 if so what did you do to it to make it custom? i realize copying yours will not be custom but i just want some idea's.
Thanks Joe
btw if your one of the people i know who i said i was getting an m4a1, well there was none in stock and if you know me that well i have a BIG problem with impatients. so i figured the ak or m16 but the m16 was to long so i went with the ak

No i dont own an AK, but just my opinion: AK 47 isnt one of those guns that should be 'customized' as far as adding scopes, lights, lasers, etc. If you want a custom AK i would reccomend real wooden stock and grips. Or the ultimate custom SVD. both are expensieve though. once again just an opinion.

I own an AK47, and love it. I'd always wanted one, and since it has a reputation as a good solid performer, I got one this past fall. Haven't had a chance to use it in a game yet, but I've done a few things to it. I can't stand the AK iron sights, and prefer the aiming speed of optical sights, so I got a JUST scope mount for my AK. I stuck a 30mm red dot on it, and I think it looks ok. The sight sits a little high compared to the iron sights, but it's nothing you can't get used to. I also put a real-steel slant cut flash hider on my gun, since the threads are a direct fit, and it's cheaper than the made for airsoft ones. You can see a pic of the gun here: www.pbase.com/image/10599024 . I think the red dot looks better set farther forward, but I had just stuck it on there quick for that picture. As for other AK specific accessories, the selection isn't as wide as say the MP5 or M4, but there are a few options. You can get scope mounts, flash hiders, conversion kits, RIS grips, etc. Again, not as many choices for stuff as some guns, but with some effort you can do quite a bit to the plain ol AK47.

Most AK sight mounts ive seen pics of are ones people drilled into the side of the gun, but that actually looks real good.

A Dragunov is going to cost a pretty penny, not to mention pretty much eliminate the gun from any CQB action. To be effective in the woods, it's FPS will be way over what is allowed for CQB, and it's quite long. EDIT: Ah yes, here's my original SVD plans, as priced out on Wargamersclub... $901 to get it shooting near 500 FPS with .2's. Ouch.

I got my mount from UNcompany.com, and it was $42 I believe. That mount seems to be around $40 pretty much everywhere. It looks nice I think since it utilizes screws that are already in place on the AK. Well, not the same screws (the sight comes with new ones), but the same holes and threading. It attaches to the 2 screws under the gun just in front of the mag well, and to the screw running through the rear sight. It fits tight against the bottom and side, and is very solid.
