Woo! Thanks to Locutus and Airsoft Toys my SD6 is fully operational once again! Francois of Airsoft Toys was kind enough to sell me his hardly used SG1 tappet plate for a nice low price and now my SD6 is once again ready to kick some booty at our next event. One thing I noticed is that it shoots a little lower than before. I THINK i may have lost a part while putting it back together. Doh. I'll have to try shooting it outside later today to see how the hop up works with greater range, but in my indoor tests it did shoot much lower than before. My sights used to be pretty much dead on before the tragedy. Back to tinkering I go. *me thinks I lost some hop-up part..I had the gun tilted a certain way while putting it all back together and I heard something hit the ground...buuut after searching and searching I couldn't find a thing.* ah well...at least it's shooting again

Thats awesome Hado, you may have lost your hop bucking, you will know as soon as you shoot it outside. If your hopup doesn't seem to have any effect, thats most likely it.

do those sd6 silencers come off? do they do anything to muffle the sound, or are they just decorative? might be cool to get an extended barrel that goes throughthe end of the silencer for some extra range and power. Note: im just wondering, its not a suggestion that any of you should try it.

Hmmm, well after testing about 4 sandard mags outside I guess it IS accurate. The hop up seems to work too so I have no idea what could have fallen out while putting it back together. Maybe it was nothing at all...but I swear I heard something hit the ground. It's been such a long time since I fired the thing, maybe I just forgot how it used to do at close range but I swear before the sights were dead accurate. Now at close range it shoots a little low. Aah well.
As for the Silencer, yep, it can be taken off. Newman's SD6 is different though. His silencer is pretty much just a big hollow tube that screws on. Mine you detatch with one swift little turn and has holes inside to muffle any sound. Thats the theory I guess...I can't really tell the difference between shots fired WITH silencer and without. Perhaps at a greater distance it works since I couldn't even hear Newman's SD6 at all last skirmish. Having a longer innner barrel would be a pretty good, accurace and range is always wunderbar. But eh...I don't need it right now.

My SOCOM silencer w/ foam inserts seems to muffle the sound a good amount, but the motor & piston still make the standard racket all AEG's do. Read up on longer barrels and "barrel suck" or "BB suck" before going for the longer barrel (has to do with air press. & such, basically the longer barrel reducing your fps if all necessary conditions not present). Depending on the power you're pushin' the BB with this can occur on longer barrels. I believe there's a post on airsoftohio about this if you need more in-depth info.
Hado - good news on the gun - congrats!
