Welcome to the forums Yep, all stock AEG's perform about the same. So it's really up to your personal preference when it comes time to choose a weapon. The best part is, with all the different weapon choices out there I'm sure you'll be able to find something that not only fits your needs, but will most likely be your dream weapon too. Which gun did you have in mind?

Hi new! Well said, Hadoken, I couldn't have said it better. I must add, though, that some AEGs (Korean made) are quite horrible:o, and obviously cheap, but you should never even consider them. Post here what you want and we'll help you out with the best price we can find from the multitude of Airsoft stores. Eh guys? Help the new guy! Also, you definitely should read this: www.airsoftplayers.com/newbie/faq.aspIt has...erm...everything you'll ever need to know and then some, and then a lot more! It's a good read (har har...ok...a long one) and well worth it. Good luck man.

while these guys try to start you buying an aeg, most people start with springers. Spring powered guns you have to c0ck the slide for each shot. gas pistols are the next level up.
Springers- c0ck for each shot. Cheap, $20 for a pistol and maybe $60 for a rifle. most people start with these.
Gas pistols- Blowback or nonblowback. Blowback pulls the slide back each time with speed similar to a real gun. probably the most realistic airsoft guns. or nonblowback, which use gas to power it but dont blowback, just auto load another shot each time. from $60 (NBB) to $150 (good GBB)
AEGs- Automatic Electric Gun- Full auto (mostly), these use batteriesto fire bbs at a very high rate. from $200 to much much more, they always cost more because you have to buy lots of accessories.

Out of the AUG, M4A1, and the G3A3 I would choose the M4A1. Because you can get a really cool grenade launcher (M203) that attaches to the gun.

yea the M4A1 is my dream gun and i saw somewhere that you can get a shotty where the M203 goes which would be kinda cool. how does the M203 work?

There are two versions, spring or gas. You have to buy shells for either, and I think the spring kind shoot three bbs at a time, and the gas ones shoot 18 or 21 bbs at a time.

I've been playing airsoft for about 3 years now and i'm kind of sick of springers! I need something better! Could you guys suggest a good AEG ( I was thinking about the G3-SG1 but i'm 5'6 and i heard its pretty big). I want something that has good distance and accuracy. Any suggestions? By the way, i live in canton (which is by Ann Arbor and Westland) and i'm looking to get into a good battle (i'm kind of tired of just playing with 4 people). So if you live near me, email me.

kinda depends what you are looking for. a close range gun you could get something like a famas or a p90. more longer ranges maybe an m4a1, m16 or similar. Guns like the g3 series are generally used at long ranges. the MC51 is the shortest of the bunch and its still a medium range gun.

Lone_wolf, the G3/SG1 is a big gun, let me tell you. I haven't held one myself but you could ask Bigmack about it, he just bought one. He's 6'4" by the way.... ;D

Like I said before, pretty much all stock AEG's perform the same. FPS ranges from about 270 to 285 but if you want greater accuracy you'll probably want something with a longer inner barrel like the AUG or the SG1. If you're 5'6 and would think a SG1 would be too long (its about 40 inches long) you could always go for the AUG. Thanks to it's bullpup design the inner barrel length remains long while the gun is still packed in a nice sweet shorter package (31 inches long). From there you can always upgrade the internals yourself for higher FPS or whatever ye need, or have the store where you buy from do it for you if you're not comfortable with taking your gun apart. Edit- Range? Accuracy? How about a sniper rifle? Pika of Airsoftplayers just put up a nice review of his Maruzen APS2-SV
