I was playing my friend Voss the other day and found out that, low and behold, the MP5 has a higher ROF and a longer range. I know about how the mini 8.4v 600mAh battery can't power some high-power springs, but I'm not looking for tons of powa. What's the most powerful spring I could buy for a stock M4A1 and be pretty much guaranteed to have no problems?

120% works well. You get a good boost without sacrificing ROF. A 130% might work with a mini. If you are really brave however, try a 140%. I threw one in my VN and it shot real far. The only problem was that I ran out of juice before bb's! But that was with a 10 AA-cell bat.

Here is a chart that might help you decide on which spring is right for you. Systema or PDI. Unless you plan on buying a custom battery for that M4 of yours I wouldn't go too crazy with the strength of the spring. My PDI 150% drained the mini VERY quickly, but thanks to the custom 9.6V 1500mah battery provided by GONZO PACKS I'm ready to rock once again.

Ah yes, I've researched it enough (I've seen that exact chart more than a couple times but I needed actual human input/experience on the topic by people I know and trust.

Hey Hado, would that chart also work for bolt-action weapons too? Or are they all the same?

Can't really say for sure if those springs would work with an APS-2. Haven't had the chance to do research on that just yet. Airsoft Extreme sells PDI APS2 springs ranging from 130% all the way up to 300%. If you're interested you should probably fire an email off to Thumper there as I know he'll be able to help you more than I can with FPS results and what else you might need to make your new APS2 handle the power.

I just went to the local battery store they can make me a 8.4 1000 mah for $20. Can anyone think of anything that could go wrong?

if you're going to make a mini battery, make sure the cells are 1/2 subC. you'll also want to get some heat shrink to hold the battery in it's shape...and some solder tabs...
