I bet (well....I'm assuming, and therefore making an a** out of you and me ;D) you have all read about people painting their guns with black or silver to make them more realistic (Minky did a great job with a Glock). The couple 'how-to's I've read sounded pretty dern scary with the primer, multiple coats, etc. etc. If you want to laugh, that's fine, but I'm not experienced with that kind of painting. If you haven't held/touched/shot/or even looked at an TM M4A1 Airsoft gun, you'll notice that the handgrip, stock, and handgrip are a nice black color. However, the upper and lower receivers are a light grey color. VERY ANNOYING! That being said...view the M4A1! EDIT: check the brightness on your monitor to get the "full effect". I just showed an Airsofter the picture, and the response I got was, "Darker?" If your monitor isn't set correctly, you'll look at the first picture, then the second, and see no difference. That wouldn't be good. ;D www.geocities.com/newmanm4a1/index.htmlThe paint I used is a secret...I'm just that way. If anybody wants me to paint their Airsoft guns, I'll do it really really cheap, and it'll look great. Mine looks awesome, I'm really happy it turned out.

Nice job there Newman, it really does make a difference. It looked good before, but with the new paint job it looks more ... realistic.
Looking forward to seeing it at one of our next games so that I may inspect your handywork.

Looks like you did a good job there Newms! Can't really tell with the lighting on that second pic though, try to get one of the new paintjob with similar lighting to the first pic. Even in that hard to see pic it looks like the gun has a nice uniform color to it now though. I hope you took all that bits and bobs off before you painted it....and you probably should spray some type of clearcoat on it to make it last, unless you want it to get a more worn look, which would also be cool.

No no no Newman, I didn't mean anything bad by what I said. It does look more realistic to me with the new paint job. And just as Minky mentioned, looks like you managed to get a nice uniform coat on too.
good work
*me bows*

Newman, having personally held several real Colt carbines, I can tell you that the grey color is unrealistic. How does the texture of the paint feel on the gun?

Maybe its just me but from that picture the black doesn't look very realistic to me, I'd need to see and touch to make a good observation on the paint. Could you take really close up pictures? I do kinda like the sleekness of the black though.

Ballista, thanks for the info. I was pretty sure that the grey was fake and unrealistic, and I guess you just confirmed it.
I might apply another coat tomor...today, wait a couple hours, then tell you how it "feels", or just see how it is when I wake up in a couple hours.
Thanks for the feedback, guys.

It really does look a lot better. A lot more.....stealthy. I assume that the SEALS would want a stealthy gun and the loverly light grey wouldn't be in their favor. I was gonna ask you what paint you used, but you said it was a seekrat. I'd have you do it, but I think I'll wait until the next event, so I can see it....and I can get back my M4 standard mag that I lent you so very long ago. ;D

Looks great Neal. I plan on painting my M4 today, not the receiver however, but rather the stock and forward handgrip. It should look pretty sharp – I don’t want to paint the receiver just yet cause I plan on some day replacing it with a metal receiver – though if primer and paint is cheap enough I might just paint it anyhow. Whelp off to the model shop for paint.

Heh, Salsa, do you think I could buy that mag off you? I really need it, ehehehe. Navy SEALs, eh? Bah humbug, I go for the Army Ranger look now.

Are you one of those realism guys? If not, just buy a few High Caps from MD Airsoft. They're only $30, which is only $5 more than a new standard mag. I'm not a big fan of strnd ags because I'm on a budget. I'd like to "keep" the one I have though.

If you remember, in Blackhawk down the delta operatives had their M4’s stock and forward handgrip painted in desert/urban schemes. I am gonna do the same thing with my M4 but with a more like jungle scheme, olive drab on black tiger stripes. Just go the coat of primer on it, gonna let it dry over night then do the colors tomorrow afternoon.

Over in the Philipines were painting the whole rifle Viking, but I think I like your/Delta's idea better.
