Ok I'm buying some stuff to upgrade my MP5... I've never done upgrades myself. So do you guys think that: Systema oil less metal bushings, PDI 120%, Systema 1000 aluminum piston head is a good setup for around 350 FPS? Thanks.

Don't think you'll get 350FPS with the PDI 120%.
I used to have a PDI 150% in my MP5 and average chrono readings came out to about 343-348FPS using .20's.
As far as upgrading goes it's all pretty easy. Follow the guides Pika put up on Airsoft Players and you'll be fine. Marui MP5's are quite the bitch when it comes to taking them apart so get ready to see a table top FULL of MP5 parts and innards.
There's a MP5 takedown video somewhere online too, search the ASP and ASZ forums for a link.

Rich, I wouldn't say that the new piston head is needed at all. All of FLAG can attest to the fact that my M4 is quite silent, has a nice ROF for an 150% with an 8.4V battery, and nothing has ever broken internally.
For 350 FPS, which is quite a small upgrade, just buying metal bushings will keep you quite happy. If you're scared that your gun is going to fry...hehe...buy some Systema gears just for "security".
I don't even have a fuse on my M4, I have nothing else to say.

Ok thanks guys. I'll go with the bushings and a 150. Hmmm... what about a 140 what FPS would that land me at?

Rich, it depends really on barrel size, mechbox type, how you put the cylinder back together, nozzle alignment...and finally....if PDI or Systema actually made the spring the correct amount! With my 150%, after erm...5 months...maybe, of shooting it at 500 rounds a day, I'm shooting maximum 348 FPS. I'm guessing you'd start around 345-350 and then drop, seeing as Airsoft Toys chronoed my gun at 360 right before they sent it to me.

I've got a PDI 140% in my AUG and it's right around 330 FPS. It's been in there since Feb. though, so I'd guess it was closer to 340-50 when I first installed it. In an MP5 I'd guess you'd probably be right around 340 or so after install. Also, if you're thinking of putting in a new piston head I wouldn't get an aluminum one.... It would probably make your gun louder (metal on metal), which some people want, but it would also add stress. I've got a Systema silicone/polycarb piston head in my AUG, just because I like the design of it better than the Marui stock piston head. Instead of a piston head I'd say get a spring guide with bearing, just to gain (possibly) a few FPS and give your spring some stress relief during compression.
*edit* Forgot to mention, I also added the new piston head because I was worried about deforming the stock one when removing the spring from it. I just wanted to have it on hand, just in case....

You don't need a new piston head, nope. I just like having a new one in my gun. Some people think the Marui piston head is better than all the upgrade ones anyway, so you might be better off leaving it in place.

Hey... I got the spring in ok, but where do I put the bushings? I have no clue where they go... theres one screw in the mechbox that I cant get undone (pretty sure my destenation is behind it) because of some red gooey stuff thats making the screw stick... I guess this question is more or less directed twoards Hado, but if anyone else can help me thanks.

Seeing as I'm hated..."Team Reciprocity Leader, Hates Newman"...by SickPointe, maybe I'm not supposed to answer this.
Maybe not. Anyhoo, the bushings connect to the gears, on the "sides" of them, I guess the rods that go through the gears is more like what I mean. They go into the halves of the mechbox and keep the gears from moving out of alignment. Just pull the gears out and you'll see what I'm saying.
Rich, PM me and we'll sort this "hating Newman" bit out.

Are they the little plastic cylinders dug into the mechbox? How do I go about "pulling out the gears"? Check your PMs...

"I hate you"
Nice PM, Rich.
Yes, they are the "little plastic cylinders". They are just little circular pieces that are usually white/clear plastic, sometimes covered in grease.
To pull out the gears, just grab the sides and yank. It's not hard at all (at least wasn't for the guns I've messed with).

Ok thanks. One question... I got 6 metal bushings in the package, but I only see four on the mechbox... any hidden somewhere?

If I remember correctly, there are 3 main gears, with 2 bushings on each gear.
