I have a stock TM M4A1 and i decided i need to upgrade it myself. I took the mechbox apart and put it back together and when i pulled the trigger (battery was connected) the motor spun but was either out of place or not aligned right and it just made a grinding sound. I pulled the trigger again and it made a shorter grinding sound then suddenly stopped. i tried working with the connections and everything but the motor just wont turn. i have also tried using another motor and it wont turn either. Please Help

Check your battery? It sounds like an electrical problem if two different motors aren't turning. or the bevel gear is totally FUBAR'ed and stuck in position. Did there seem to be any damage to the gear on the motor?

it seems that the trigger is having a problem. it pulls easily when the mechbox is open. i connected all of the wires how they are supposed to be and the power just doesnt seem to be getting to the motor.

What exactly did you put in the gun for upgrades? Did you shim properly? What type of battery are you using? Did you check the fuse? Need more info!

As a rule of thumb, it's never a good idea to open up a mechbox just for the hell of it. The thing's aren't really made to be taken apart often, and as you've found out the hard way, it's just asking for trouble. What exactly did you do inside the mechbox? Did you just open it and look, or did you actually take everything out and then put it back together? Have you opened it back up since the gun stopped working? Please let us know exactly what you did, so that we can narrow down the problems. Let's start simple though: again, did you check the fuse? If the fuse is blown, something was binding enough in the box to cause problems. Your gears might be seized up, which could happen if you lost some shims or timed the gears wrong. There could also be a short somewhere in the wiring. So what's the moral of all this? Don't screw with your mechbox without good reason, I have nothing else to say.

i took out the spring, trigger, all three gears, and then i put it back together just the way it was. I manually spun the gears and they were fine. i checked the wire connections and they were all perfect. everything is fine except power doesnt seem to be gettin to the motor. I know i was not smart for taking it apart without knowing what to do, but i looked at some manuals and other stuff online and decided to do it. I am plannin on upgrading soon and wanted to get the hang of taking the thing apart so it wouldnt take a long time to do it once i got my parts. It may be the fuse but i dont think i have any replacements.

You can find replacement fuses at auto parts stores, probably even at Kmart or Walmart. I believe the gun comes with a 15A fuse, but check your manual or do some searching. Take the fuse out and inspect it, you should be able to tell if it blew or not by looking at the thin metal inside it.

Now that we're talking about fuses, i recently upgraded my gun and blew the fuse also. I had read that many people remove the fuses when they upgrade to reduce resistance, so i didnt put a new fuse in. Right now the two clips that hold the fuse are clipped to eachother instead of being clipped to a fuse. I havent noticed any problems, so my question is, is that the way you're supposed to bypass the fuse? or are you supposed to remove the clips, strip the wires, and solder them together?

That's the way i did it. You might want to wrap the conection in electrical tape so it doesn't hit anything metal and short out (if you haven't yet). Again, that's the way i did it.

I just clipped them together (the fuse holder plates) and covered them with electrical tape.
I've never had any mechbox problems with my M4 and don't plan to (hehe ;D), so I really don't care about having a fuse. The gun's just a beast.
It does help that I can take apart mechboxes and "fix" them if there's something wrong, though, but that's only because I had a FUBAR'd ICS MP5 that I had to fix by myself. It worked for a while and then the entire lower receiver cracked...I'm letting that one sit around, in my drawer.
