Aah you're a lucky man! Looks like I won't be getting a G36C of my own this year so I'll have to fondle and admire yours instead. Err, the G36C that is.

Ah ha! Problem Number One has been encountered:
The tabs on the mags are a great idea... unless you're storing your mags in a Blackhawk vest. I have a crowssdraw vest and the tabs and notches get caught on the retaining strips placed inside the mag pouches. I'm probably going to just cut the tabs and notches off of my mags, as I've never used mag clamps anyways.

How many mags can you fit per mag pouch in the back hawk X draw?
[edit]Mine will be shipping from AT on thursday, and usually it's only one day shipping, so hopefully i'll have it in my grubby little paws by friday evening, along with my new black hawk hell storm S.O.L.A.G. gloves. It's a verry merry christmas (although a couple days late, but heck, i'll just say i'm celebrating his circumcision).

Only one mag per pouch, for a total of three. G36 mags are really thick, compared to an M16 mag I'm going to buy two extra mag pouches ($9 a piece) at the local army surplus to go on my pistol belt to carry a total of 7 mags on my person.

Well, I almost exclusively use lo-caps only, so it's necassary for me to take 4 or 5 standard mags and 1 high cap. So that's still 6 mags I've got to carry. For Op: I Snowman, I'll probably just use one lo-cap and 1 hi-cap if I get one before then. (Gotta ask WTS Mike about that) EDITHere's how a G36 and an M16 mag roughly size up, width wise. The G36 mag is about 1/3 thanks to the tabs and notches.

Once again jacko, thank you for the comparison, and all that jive.
I'll also be using standards almost exclusively, so we're kind of in the same boat.

Well, the standard US Army infantryman loadout is 8 magazines, at a minimum. We're not loaded down with gear, we're realistic.

But they dont have to worry about spending 30 bucks per magazine either, or reloading them.

I'll take having to buy and load my own magazines over actually being in the military any day. ;D

My g36c showed up here yesterday, while i was at work of course. This gun is truely beastly. Pretty small, which is my favorite feature, and nice and heavy. The only creaks i can hear are from the foregrip.
magazines are going to be a problem. The built in clamping system doesn't allow them to be stacked next to each other. I'm checking out a few different solutions for me.
Jacko, those M16 mag pouches that hold three M16 mags only hold 2 g36 mags clamped together, and they catch on the way out. I'm going to see if i can mess with the stuff in side the pouch to get the mags to slide out easier.
and of course battery space yadda yadda yadda...

I'm cutting the tabs off of my mags, that's just how I'm fixing the problem. With the BH vests, there's velcro on the inside of the mag pouches which you can stick the flaps onto, thus fixing my earlier stated problem. However, that fix still only allows for 3 mags. I did buy a mag pouch last night, and it looks like two modded mags will fit side by side and not catch at all. You cut the dividers out, right? Oh, make sure the front screw that's holding the forearm rail on is tightened. Mine was real loose when I got the gun. Story TimeI had to basically dis-assemble the entire gun last night. And by that I mean undo all the screws, pins, nuts, you name it. Why? A 9.6v battery. Like basically most TM guns, they don't want you to throw more juice than 8.4v into the guns, and so the battery compartments are made to that size of battery. However, the battery looked fine in the compartment when I test fitted and the forearm slide over it just fine... Until I had about a half inch to go when it got stuck, and didn't move anymore. I later discovered, after disassembling the entire gun so I could remove the entire front barrel assembly (Including hopup) that one of the battery wires had become pinched. There's a slot on the left hand side of the outer barrel where the connectors for the battery are supposed to be recessed. However, they don't want to just stay in there. I'm thinking of electro-taping the connectors in there after hooking up batteries. Sp, I went about making some room inside my battery compartment. Here are the two things I did: The first cut is the tab that sticks up near the magwell on the underside of the outer barrel. That's the biggest problem, and once removed, the battery doesn't have to be crammed so far near the front of the gun, which was my problem originally. The second cut(s) were the tabs that hold a mock heat shield in the bottom of the grip. As far as I can tell, that fake heat shield only covers up the two vents on the underside of the grip. Once you tear that out (And you can just grip the end, lift, and tear) cut off the rear three pairs of tabs. My Dremel was out of batteries so I used a razor saw, which was what marred the inside so badly. After that, you can slide the grip on pretty easily. It gets a little snug near the end, but it works and the battery has absolutely no movement inside the grip. Just as solid as the rest of the gun!

Tightening that screw down was the first thing i did. I picked up the gun, got my hex wrenches, tightened the screw, then inspected the rest of the contents in the box (finding their hex wrench, of course).
I definetly cut out the straps inside the mag pouch. i don't think i'm gonna hack off the clamps unless it's my only option, i'll try a few other ways first.
My PDW is upgraded, so i'm going to leave this gun stock in terms of velocity, so i won't be needing the battery space. I'll probably up the rof pretty soon though.
You might want to toss up that mini guide on airsoftohio for other people looking for more battery space, it could help out a lot.
