received my new PRYME gladiator throat mike today. took 6 days to arrive by ups from calif. very nice unit, very well built and fits the small/large plug of my cobra radio perfectly. it seems to work as advertised and comes with 3 different push to talk switches and 3 different size ear pieces so i'm very happy so far. will test it in combat soon and then i'll know for sure but it's a huge step up from the old radio shack model!!!

I have a cobra walkie talkie as well. My Throat Mic fits into the plug, but if I plug it in while it's on, it transmits a solid scratching nosie like I am talking, but you can't hear my voice. Also, if I plug the mic in before I turn the w.t. on, the w.t. won't turn on, at all.
I guess I need a better walkie talkie....

Or a better throat mic. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) One of the nice things about having a semi-official team radio is that you can swap parts around to figure out where the glitch is.

hate to revive an older thread but since it's a follow up to the thread and also some conversation at the last ACO op, i think is relevant. as stated previous, i bought a Pryme Gladiator throat mic and have been using it all summer. a few quirks showed up and the biggest gripe was the two transducers not staying put and the entire neck band being too small (at least for my nearly size 18 roguish neck!) I called Alex Ribble at Pryme this week and discussed those two problems and he mailed me a prototype of an elestic neck band he has come up with to attach to the existing neck band and when it arrived today, i promply attached it (easily done) as it works! it is velcro adjustable and elastic and seems to hold the two mics in place without strangling me! i'll have to test it further but my initial impression is a good one! see me at the next op for further info. it's nice to know that Pryme will actually listen and strive to make a good product better. they also have a new model coming out soon that will be even better yet, i may get a chance to test that also. contact them direct if you need more info or to place an order, they get a big Rogue1 thumbs way up from me! www.pryme.com or 800-666-2654 ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

That's real good news, Rogue. I've got of these things and neither see as much use as my Otto earbud. Can you take any photos of the neckband?

Did Pryme say anything about impedance matching? I've found the Gladiator to be very finnicky about what radios it works with.

Mine works great with my Motorala FRS but not at all with my Rino or either of my Icoms. Frustrating business. ![:|](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/plain.png)
