Last I knew, Colt was the only maker of the M16A2 and M4.... At least the last time I saw my M16 in the arms room at my unit..

I just realized that he wrote that in at the end of his post. Why? Are you really that stupid? We can see your name right next to your message.

DevilDog, thanks for the additional info...from a person well-versed with the real deal.
Colt designed/manufactures the M4 but FN (in Belgium) manufactures the M16A2 *now*. I read that somewhere, hehe. Guess it was cheaper to get FN to make the M16s. *shrugs*

ni im not really that stupid, and olympic arms makes the m4 as well, but
It is one of my pet peeves when someone calls a rifle by the brandname rather than the model name, And I was not tryin to sound smart or anything and i understand that you didnt know what kinda rifle it was but i cant stand it . sorry if i came off as an assshole but im sure everyone has thier pet peeves as well

But that didnt even apply to what your "pet peeve" is. Newman was refering to a company not a specific weapon. That's what we're all saying.

Olympic Arms makes a civilian model of the M4, according to their website. (www.olyarms.com) It's called the CAR-97, has a different muzzle brake, has a fixed (looks collapsible, though) stock, has no bayonet lug, is semi-auto only (not stated but assumed) and its carry handle is fixed. That's a pretty crappy M4 IMHO. The reason I'm saying this is because the US military would never use that in the services, it's not made in a contract with them. The US military *does*, however, buy M4s from Colt itself, M16A2s from FN, M249s from FN, yaddayaddayadda. They don't buy their M4s from Olympic Arms. ;D
