No, both the Mauser and Springfield are MAGAZINE FED RIFLES. That statement is 100% fact, they are not a clip fed rifle as you stated, plain and simple. This "Just think.. CLIP is 99% of the gun is inside the gun (Mauser KAR98 K, 1903 Springfield and so on..) A Mag is fed for out side" is just plain inaccurate.
As for shotguns, duh, hence why my answer said that they were MAGAZINE FED as well. There is no difference between an internal or external magazine, besides the inherent fact that one is inside and the other outside, and it's mechanics.
OR...just about every bolt action rifle, and shotgun uses a magazine to feed its rounds.

Now I have a question thats a little odd, and I never really thought about it.
Revolver speed loaders? To me I would say they are considered a clip, very simular to a stripper clip though would anyone agree or disagree? Just wondering:)

I suppose, if they'd be called anything, they'd be called a clip...but they're "special" what with their speediness. They only hold the ammo, and there isn't anything highly mechanical on them, though...hmm truly an enigma.
If they wern't called speedloaders, I'd probably call them a clip ;D

So Mowtown correct me if im worng as u seem to be the expert on the topic.
A clip is exactly that, something that clips or hols bullets together, and like a magazine clip would be something that holds mags together right?
Now my question is could a machine gun belt of ammo, could that be conciderd a clip? Just for deffinitions sake?

Not trying to be a dick. But the guy who said the M16 had a 30 round mag, were,'t they only 20 rounds to start with, while the AK-47 had a 30 round mag. Soldiers in veitnam saw that the ak had a 30 round mag, needing to be reloaded less, and ask that they have a 30 round mag as well. Just thought i heard this somewhere, alittle off topic i know. But its kind of eating away at me right now. I am yet another noob needing a history leason

clip n. Any of various devices for gripping or holding things together ( bullets) ; a clasp or fastener. mag·a·zine n. A compartment in some types of firearms, often a small detachable box, in which cartridges are held to be fed into the firing chamber.
Both of these definitions come from dictionary.com. As you can see, the definitions of clip and magazine are similar but there is a difference between the two.

Evorare is right. The m16A1, the one used primarily in vietnam had a 20 roung magazine. Because the AK47 held a 30 round magazine the Army wanted a 30 round mag for the m16 however it only came into play around 1970
