Right!
I PM'd vitalis earlier today and said someone would find this too boggling to comprehend and ask me if I am going to be out there with a protractor measuring angles......(no I am not)
I was just trying to show the basic idea of how I would rule on this...
As for running it is not an issue, I have never been hit with a ricochet while running. and if I was hit, I would assume a direct hit, etc...no angles to "compute"
Usually these situations are when you are camped out, laying down or in a bunker, so you could have a basic idea of the "direction of fire"
and I included the gun ricochet example because I saw that one abused...... "it ricocheted off this guys gun into his cheek and with some force!" he said ouch! good thing that was a gun hit.... as he ran off into the woods for better cover.
So let me rephrase it. (please refer to diagram if needed to "visualize" )
indoor and outdoor.
BB's that hit a tree, branch, twig, super grass, gun, or any other object and then impact you with an OBTUSE angle (>90 degrees) are considered legitimate HITs
BB's that hit a tree, branch, twig, super grass, gun, or other object and then impact you at an angle less than 90 degrees (acute angle) are considered a NON HIT
basically this means it ricocheted off something behind you and not in front of you relative to the direction of incoming fire (NO angles to compute, just common sense)
BB's that impact 2 or more surfaces and then strike the player are considered NON HITs
If you were struck with so many BB's that you couldn't possibly tell the direction and number of bounces, then guess what.............you call yourself out. again common sense
I think this is exhaustive enough, and this is how I will call it at our games, unless someone comes up with something more practical.
"so let it be written, so let it be done!"
