Well i just finished shimming, putting in new cylinder, and piston head. Of course I re greased EVERYTHING with guarder teflon grease. And put everything back together. After a few shots on semi ( 7-10 shots) i noticed a burning type smell. Now I'm not sure if this is just the loads of grease i put on it coming off or if i have a serious problem? Thanks to all who answer.

I located the where the smell was coming from, it seems to be coming from the cylinder. No smell around pistol grip, gears, motor. Just in cylinder. Probably from grease?

What kind of grease are you using?

I'm pretty sure there is a specific type of lubrication needed for cylinders if I'm not mistaken.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using proboards

It may not be that the grease is wrong, but the heat is too strong. Check your cylinder and piston, check if there is anything that could cause extra friction, therefore more heat.

I agree, I have used the same grease in the past and it's great stuff but it won't cause any heating. Maybe the O-ring on your piston head is a little over sized, try a different cylinder head or cylinder.

There is some circular grooving on the inside of the new one, and you can hear metal on metal when you slide it. But same kinda for stock. I dont know whats wrong. Probably just the grease tho

If it's getting that hot from metal-on-metal then you should also be noticing a lot of noise from it when you cycle it. My guess is that you're smelling the oxidization on the trigger contacts, which are pretty close to the cylinder.

I agree with the trigger contacts, they are the only thing that should be getting hot enough to burn the grease. What volt battery are you running? Did you accidentally get a bit of grease in the contacts? If this is the case and you are burning up your contacts then you should look into a mosfet.
