Well guys I've been meaning to show off some of my old collection since I came back to playing airsoft. But my old pictures are long gone, so I need to take more. Trouble is my guns are not organized and laying around my shop;) So I'm planning on taking some pictures as time permits of each gun probably when I take them out to play a game or fix/change something.
So I got a pile of parts the other day from a guy 60 miles north of me that he didn't want. Receivers etc just bunches of stuff. I've been thinking about making a new upper for my CA M15A4, well some of you know that's not an easy change over;) Unless it's got the pins to slide in and index the upper. Well this one didn't and it was slightly too long, I believe it came from an A&K gun from the look of the build but I'm not sure. Well with allot of filing and grinding I made it fit, had to change some profiles here and there but I made it fit the CA. I also drilled and inserted pins in the upper to index it to the lower. Used broken sewing needles for the pins, and super glued them into the drilled holes I made works fine. Then I had a Mod 0 style free floating handguard that I got in the box, but no delta ring or assembly to attach it to the upper. So I took a look had a delta ring laying in the box, ground it down to where it fit into the assembly and I could screw it together. Shimmed things tight on that end, installed the handguard/rail assembly and slid a lipo in as I put it together. Then I had a barrel that stops short by several inches of the end of the rail. And I could have just used a solid barrel extension since I've got one, but I always liked the integrated suppressor look. So I grabbed one I had laying around I don't use often, attached it to the outer barrel and threaded it in. Made a spacer to mate the mounting to the handguard mostly for additional support so if I bang the end I won't bend the outer barrel.
So that was the outside, inside running an M120, bunch of internal upgrades to the mechbox as well I rhopped the barrel, which is a stock barrel again out of the box of stuff that I polished. It's a M16 length barrel so it actually runs to the end of the suppressor. I did a full cylinder to make sure I had enough volume to handle the barrel length etc.
So here it is, I've got another upper now with a standard M4 length barrel and RIS system which is how I've always run this gun, and this longer DMR type of setup. I will likely paint the upper and rail to match but of course I just finished building this a little bit ago so we'll see.
Take care!
