So after doing a lot of research ive came up with some mixed results. Basically im wanting to turn my Elite Force m4 cqb into a dmr. I know thats not the best platform for a build but i will be replacing EVERYTHING. It'll be a whole new gun. But my question is, should i buy a longer outer barrel, inner, rail, etc to extend the barrel? Or should i keep it the same. Some people say shorter barrels are more accurate and more ranged and some say a longer barrel is a necessity for "snipers". So is my 155mm barrel good enough? I have a pro win hop-up and maple leaf bucking so i know those are good. Thanks for all who answer. Greatly appreciated.

The quality and consistency of a barrel can have a larger effect than length does. I have seen people with <200mm orga barrels have significantly better accuracy and range than those with any standard 363mm AEG barrel. Some believe that a longer barrel means better accuracy, which is not exactly true. In my opinion, do some research and find a good quality barrel at a length that would fit your build. 363 mm is a pretty standard length barrel for a m4 platform. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong

Barrel length has very little to no effect on accuracy or range. Take Squrills's MP5 for instance. Legend says he was hopping BBs out to 275 feet with that thing. My buddies R-hopped 416 was hitting 250. It all has to do with consistency. For ultimate accuracy and range, start with these:
High quality barrel, Teflon taped to prevent wobble. (Not always the case, some people get great results with a properly polished stock brass barrel, but this usually helps).
Consistant hop up pressure. The Prowin Hop up chamber is popular because it doesn't lose its setting, and is easy to adjust.
Good bucking. A quality bucking of proper hardness for your FPS will work wonders.
Good nub. There are about 20 schools of thought on the best nub, do your research to figure out what one will work best for your setup.
Good compression. Make sure no air leaks from the cylinder, hop up chamber, nozzle, or barrel/chamber connection.
Good cylinder to barrel ratio. If memory serves me correctly, I believe its 1.6:1. So a standard V2 cylinder works best (in theory) with a 363x6.03mm barrel.
That all is just the tip of the iceberg, but will get you started. Welcome to the world of teching. The rabbit hole is deep, make sure you bring a gun.

I can confirm on the length not mattering on range or accuracy. I had an M28 bolt rifle, and made it a short barrel rifle. Took off about 7 inches, and I saw little to no difference other than being more mobile and easier to stalk my prey.
The first upgrade should be "diy" air seal mods, and good bucking/nub, ammo, then inner barrel.
It all starts with compression, and then hopup. A poor bucking can make the inner barrel quality pointless, while a good bucking can work wonders on crap inner barrels.
Ammo, obviously we already know good bb's matter haha..
