Hey guys, I have a question for anyone who may know the answer. As far as RPK drum mags go I've heard mostly negative reviews in performance and how long they last. Does anyone have any recommendations for an RPK drum mag that doesn't suck as bad as Ghast's CQB skills? I have a crapload of standard AK mags the work fine but they don't give that true LMG feel the way a megaton of bb's in a drum mag may. Also, it's good to be back after a 2 year hiatus

Unfortunately that is for PKM. I'm rolling with an RPK.

I remember Novak had one that worked pretty well, care to chime in? The last time I used an RPK, at EW, it included a drum mag, but was having constant feeding issues, so I can't say I personally have any good recommendations. It was decided then that the stick high-caps would be acceptable in lieu of the drum mag, although we typically ban use of highcaps.

I thought that in general LMGs were allowed to use highcaps to simulate the long belts used by these weapons in real life. Is this not true?

Don't see why hi caps wouldn't work as a stand in for a drum. Just limit to 2 or 3 for similar capacity.

I don't think that was me Impulse. I've had an ak platform drum mag or two, but that was before I found this forum. I don't really remember much about my experiences with them other than that they can be a pain some times.

Buy China drum mag, go thru electronics with new wiring and a soldering iron. They like to use hot glue to hold everything in place, so might want to grab some superglue as well.

I read they sometimes have an over sensitive sound activator and thus will feed bbs from the sound of rattling bbs. Did you experience this at all?

Well like timm mentioned, most of the china brands internals leave a lot to be desired quality wise. I had to rebuild the wiring and hotglued parts before I could get mine to work. Also, if you accidentally drop them and any debris gets in that spring that acts like a feed tube, its close to impossible to get it back out. I'm sure there are good drum mags out there.
To answer your question I would have had to have an auto feed drum. The ones I used had a remote push button.
