So I'm a relatively new player (almost 2 years) and have never been to eastside and don't work there or anything like that. I saw you guys shutting down the other person posting about eastside and I was just wondering why. Is it a bad facility or do they play unsafely or something? Thanks and I unlike this other guy, have no affiliation with this field.

I shut down the other two threads, not because of the topic, but how it was presented. Both those threads were created to induce a flame war, and that won't be tolerated. Had they been posted in a similar format as your was, I would have let them stay. Their events aren't posted on here due to them not wanting to conform to MIA standards. I'm not sure if they do now, but previously they did not. Many players have had good experiences there, many players have had bad experiences there, but that is all personal experience/opinion. I don't mind having a thread to discuss this, but as soon as people start getting out of line, it will be shut down.

I haven't been there in a couple years but when I use to frequent there back in '09ish it was nice.

I just want to add that we value open discussion here on MiA provided that everyone involved in the discussion is acting transparently. The poster in question is, apparently, an employee of East Side and specifically attempted to conceal this fact. That's where the issue was and why Pagan locked the thread.
The same thing would happen if someone joined the forum and all they did was advertise certain products and we discovered that they were in fact a representative of the company that makes those products.

Just to add support, I've never played at Eastside because I don't particularly care for CQB. I don't have any opinion, positive or negative, of their field and wasn't sure if it was still even running. If I had seen those threads before Pagan did, I would have locked them as well. The poster was being an asshole and trying to pick a fight, and that's not cool. If you come here looking for an argument, you're not going to contribute in a positive way.
The unfortunate fallout is that he'll probably bitch to the rest of the Eastside staff and frame it like he was being noble and we treated him poorly and only further drive them away from the mainstream Michigan community.

If anyone would like to see the rest of the conversation I took that screen shot from, you'll understand why I locked it as quickly as I did. A simple conversation turned into a giant shitstorm and I'm not going to let that happen here on our forum. Yes I was being preemptive, but I've seen how this type of thread goes down quickly, and I nipped it in the bud.

Why do they hate the MiA community though?

Ogre,
I don't even think they hate the MIA community. There was an issue with MIA fps and med standards in the beginning ( Again: I don't know if this is the case currently)which kept them from advertising events on the forum.

So basically why everyone else hates MiA. With how stupid these field owners are I wonder how they stay in business. It would make sense to have MiA open as a source of income. To qoute Waynes world "host it and they will come"

Hello. I'm sorry for asking about the field. I completely worded it wrong. I was legitimately asking why. Was not trying to be a troll, etc, etc. And I'm a complete dumb ass for doing this. I'm sorry. It was worded wrong, and I didn't know what I was doing. I'm sorry.

I stopped going there when we were threatened and almost involved in a physical altercation with some asshat. (Not an actual member of asshat, just a douche)

To qoute Waynes world "host it and they will come" Honestly MIA use to be a bit different, the mods could be very rude to new members and very harsh at times. I understand this is to have a nice forum but some went out of there ways to be overly strict. The biggest issue that cause problems was grammar, instead of saying hey next time fix it, some mods were acting extreme and causing issues. This has since been tamed down but it did cause some people to get pissed off. When I was new to the forum I was rather put off by the mods and did not like posting here either. I never became a enemy of the forums but I wasnt very happy either. Over the past years the aggressive mods faded away and new/better ones took over and the mood has lifted and I think that is why we have less grumpy people now. On topic about eastside: I am actually hoping for them to post a event, I have never been there and I would like to check it out, I really wanted to play some CQB this year but my favorite place, farmington, never opened up so I have not been able to play. Like I said in the other topic, if it is good people will keep returning. However if it is ran by clowns and unsafe then they deserve to go under.

And if you'd like to ask your question in a way that isn't instigating, this is probably the thread to do it.

I live in Royal Oak and East Side is only a 15-20 minute drive for me so I would certainly like to play there more often. I haven't however because of how the field turned out after Commando's acquired it from Kurt. The player base changed from being typically more serious and more mature players to younger and more immature players (which has been the trend for most airsoft indoor CQB places for the last 6 years...) and also the "400fps" days where guns chrono'ing up to 400fps was allowed. And that's not even half of the safety issues I have personally experienced or have heard about at East Side.
Since the transition, I only attended private games there since I knew the people I was playing with.
With that being said, if things have changed regarding the safety rules, chrono rules, the player base, and how the place is ran, I'll certainly be willing to try it out again.
