Earlier, it was requested that I make a thread in which to post tech videos from my YouTube channel and tech-related writeups.
First up, my shimming guide; this video goes over the proper shimming process for the bevel-to-pinion method on a V2/V3 gearbox shell:
And here is an internal overview of my personal primary AEG, for those interested:

Nice I actually used your video's as refreshers when I opened my mechbox the other day. Since it's been years since I'd been inside a gun. Granted it mostly all came back to me once I got in there. The shimming guide is something that wasn't mentioned back then much at all, and well youtube as it is today wasn't really much of an option then. Back then AirsoftPlayers was the place to go for mechbox repair videos and that's been dead for many years now;)
Either way much appreciate the videos they were very helpful in getting things back working. On my trolley post I did a little different than your repair. I used a small nail from a wire hold down(with the little plastic strap and two nails). I filed the side under the flat top to make sure it would set flush with the rear of the box. Drilled the hole to match the size. Took the top of the nail head and sanded it down to fairly thin but still thick enough to hold some force. Then I scarred the nail right up near the head so that it would have some grabbing force against the hole in the mechbox much like some roll pins will have some cross hatching to hold them in place. I put a little red loctite on there and pounded it into the hole in the box. Oh and I cut it to length before doing that to insure it wouldn't hit on anything it shouldn't. Once in place there is a little play between the back side of mech box and the selector plate, which the nail head rides in. Works fine and then the selector plate keeps the nail in place should it ever free up down the road it really doesn't have anywhere to go.
Either way thanks much it's appreciated didn't realize while watching them that it was another MIA member;)
