If I can get approval from the staff here, I can start developing a IPB version with a working commerce section. I can host it through my company as well if need be. Read through the forums a little bit, there is an on going discussion about what is being talked about as far as a forum change.. You can do what ever you like, but I'd pretty positive when I say it's not going to get backing from the powers that be.

I would only create a new one for the current staff to take over so we can have commerce again. It is cute that I got a warning (not saying you gave it to me, I do not know who).

We already have that. Several of them to be exact. At this point in the game another one floating around wouldn't help things.

Completely my fault. I had a notification on my profile and noticed I had a warning, got it mixed up. Sorry for the confusion.

I like the notion of continuous improvement and many of the suggestions referenced above.
If we need a new site in order to have a functioning commerce section, then so be it. I do have a point of caution with regard to Admins/Moderators. As long as the job is getting done, I wouldn't significantly add/change moderators.
EDIT - As I catch up, it looks like we are not writing on a blank slate, and an alternative site is already up. This post was/is meant to guide thinking with regard to MIA or a new MIA site, and not an indictment of any MIA alternatives.
That said, I'll probably look at/join both sites for games, knowledge, etc., not unlike I did when MWAC started. Frankly, I liked and respected many of the MWAC admins, and was surprised by the speed of its collapse (and was glad I remained a member of MIA).

Everyone has basically summed up what I would like to see from the community, but just as a refresher for what I believe to be the most important in my opinion.
1.) Updating the forums with new features to increase interactivity and functionality (which I would be totally down to help out with, Web Development major hehe) and new moderators and warning system (the current warning system is a bit odd with moderators giving and manually removing infractions, I've been sitting at 50% warning level for over a year now because of mistakes I made as a newb to the forums because they don't automatically drop off over time which I believe they should)
2.) Getting more people who go out to games aware, and on the forums
3.) More games in general (I know this is a toss up with some people, because most people don't have time for a game every week, but others do, and it would be nice to have that option)
That is just about it for what I would like to see from MIA in 2015. This is an awesome community, let's expand upon it and make 2015 an awesome year!

I'm a bit late to the party but here are my thoughts. I like to be realistic with my goals as well as my expectations for others so while I think that there has been a lot of great suggestions here I think that some of them aren't really necessary.
Mods: Unless the mods are complaining then there is no need for us to complain. If people are offended because they can't follow the rules, that is their own problem, not MIA's or the mods. The rules are made clear and are not unreasonable. Also, I don't know what the true intent is from everyone but those of you suggesting that new/more mods are needed almost come off as just wanting a slice of the pie. Remember, post count isn't everything, if you doubt that take a look back at your old posts and ask yourself how many of them contributed something useful to the community. The mods that are in place now have all been members for many years and have contributed a lot to the community in terms of knowledge and game hosting and they continue to do so now, so I trust in their judgment more so than someone who has been around for only a couple years and has way too many posts.
New Forum: As far as I am concerned a commerce section is the only essential thing here. All the talk about "nice features" and whatnot is great, but at the end of the day you don't need "nice features" to have great discussions, all you need is knowledgeable individuals willing to participate and a medium for doing that, which is evidenced by plenty of threads here on MIA. Lets not be unreasonable with what is expected of a new forum. I support whatever decision the mods eventually come to on this topic since I recognize that MIA has be a fixture in Michigan airsoft for a long time and no one wants to wreck that.
Getting players onto the forum and involved: I think that this should probably be one of the more important goals. Most games in the area are hosted by MIA members and I think that it is reasonable that those in attendance join the forum to contribute to the community that offers them games to play at as well as give feedback on games they've attended. This also helps to make sure that people are familiar with the rules and expectations before they show up. Those currently hosting games won't be around forever so others will have to take over eventually so I think it is important to have everyone attending games be on the forum in order to keep the community alive. I think a good incentive for this would be to price games $5 higher and just give a $5 discount to everyone who signs up on MIA individually. By that I mean that you personally need to sign up, IE someone can't say I'll be there +3 and get a discount for 4 people. Maybe this idea is a bit over the top but I think we would see a spike in people joining the forum at least to sign up for games.

Remember, post count isn't everything, if you doubt that take a look back at your old posts and ask yourself how many of them contributed something useful to the community. I took a look at my old posts and I did realize about a third of mine were relatively unproductive. As far as wanting a slice of the pie goes, It was not my most main intention. After it was pointed out, I realized how it sounds. I'm saying it for this reason: While the Mods who are inactive are definitely not hurting anything, they ARE inactive. My concern is that the new members joining the forums will see the names of these inactive moderators, go to PM them a question and never get a response. I've Pm'd several mods for clarifying questions. Luckily, the ones I picked were entirely active. Even taking off the inactive mods would help with that regard. On top of that, I personally think that it will just keep the front page cleaner. New Forum: As far as I am concerned a commerce section is the only essential thing here. I support whatever decision the mods eventually come to on this topic since I recognize that MIA has be a fixture in Michigan airsoft for a long time and no one wants to wreck that. I agree with your point here. I like fancy features, but as you said, it's not necessary. I've been utilizing MI6mm for most of my commerce needs, along with the /r/airsoftmarket. I'm also willing to do whatever the collective mod population feels is best. They've been doing this a long time. All in all, MIA was my real introduction into the real sport/hobby of airsoft. I'd love to see it stick around.

As far as the post count goes, I've been here for 3ish years and have a massive one. Not really because I'm trying to be un productive but because I'm on MiA for the community here. I like engaging in conversations with other forum members. Honestly, I think it would be better if more people treated MiA like that because when I was a new player. Doing that made me feel right at home.

I know I'd love to see another opportunity to order a MIA patch.

Wraith: maybe a yearly patch update kind of thing, I know a ton of us ordered last time. I'd order one each year.
