My English teacher today gave us an assignment where in which we could choose our own topic and argue it to some extent. So in this case my group is arguing why airsoft should be a school sport. Personally I can't think of why it should be a school sport because I understand some of the issues that would instantly arrive. I was wondering how you guys might think about it actually becoming a sport within Schools and the effects their of.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say creating an airsoft team for a school is a great way to increase the numbers of CODsofters on the fields.

Airsoft doesn't work as a competitive sport. The only upside I could see you reaching for would be teaching kids to be honest (hit calling).

Not trying to crap but this isn't a very good idea. School and airsoft doesn't mix even slightly. There are wayyy to many negative outcomes that could happen that would effectively kill the sport.

You've all have made very valid points and I still think it's a stupid idea to even bring up. Ironically the principle will be in for evaluations the day that we have to present. I'm getting the topic changed so if any mods would like to lock or delete this go ahead. If you wan't to keep it around to show what stupidity looks like I don't mind that either. Thanks for the input guys.
Edit: Not this topic. I mean topic for our presentation for clarification.

Not stupidity mate, so no need to put yourself down. It's a valid question that has been thought of multiple times by multiple people. If we lived in a perfect world where stupidity and immaturity wasn't a factor, I'd be all for it. Unfortunately, stupidity + immaturity = a severe safety issue.

It is a fine idea. It has all of the main ideas of other sports. Teamwork, coordination, and physical insertion. Not to mention it is less dangerous than, say, football. However, The only way it would be possible is if it was taken very slowly. The idea has to sit in people's minds. Then you can give them reasons as to why it can be, and will be a safe sport. It still wouldn't happen in the near future.

The only thing I can see is schools allowing flyers, if that in schools. I know Zdybel planned/thought about putting flyers around his college. My real concern about making this topic was whether or not it should be done as argument in school. Based on your guys reactions I would say no, but who knows I could be misinterpreting what you guys are saying.

I wrote an airsoft essay in college. I got a 3.5 on it, but I had to work at least twice as hard to get that grade as I did on any of my other papers for that class. Changing the minds of people who already have prejudices is very difficult. If you have the support of teachers, and present it in an unbiased way, I think you could do fairly well for yourself. Personally, I'd say more of an "airsoft club" thing, but hey, it's your paper.

BGSU has a team called the Screaming Falcons. The school sponsered them till just recently due to some missing money or something.. It can happen, but I dont see many schools going for it.

Okay we've run into a problem as to what name we have decided to be a club. Our school colors are maroon and white and our mascot is a panther. My group can literally think of nothing catchy to call the club. Any one have any ideas?

Panther Operations Group (Logo would be a maroon panther on a white background, with POG above it)
Panther Claws (A Maroon background with slashes in it, reviling a white background)
Panther Penis's (A photo realistic panther penis) White Panthers (Maroon Background, White Panther)
Panther Airsoft (A maroon background with a white panther skull)
Panther Tails (Like Dragon Tails, but with Panthers. And airsoft.)
Panther Attack Squadron (Maroon background, with a White Panther leaping towards the viewer)
I might post some more if I think of them. Mix and match colors/ ideas as you like. I personally recommend the 1st or 3rd option, but whatever floats your boat.
