Had a fun time running around in the woods as usual. Bangor always offers challenges, especially in the fall.
Kudos to the tan team. I was, unfortunately, on the receiving end of lot of excellent coordination and assaulting.
A few points:
1. Polarstar rifles. These really need to be restricted to semi-auto only. I'm a Polarstar owner myself, and I was shocked by the amount of ridiculously high ROF hosing that was happening. Be a good sport, be courteous to your fellow players and either reduce your ROF or go semi-auto only.
2. Field conditions. The main part of the woodland field is badly deteriorated. Major structures are barely standing and most seem on the brink of actually collapsing.
The central beam holding up the second story of major building at the airfield actually burst when we put someone up there. The ladder is also completely detached (still standing) and the entire area is riddled with exposed, rusty nails.
The bridge near "A" and "B" is falling apart and lying half in, half out of the creek. To cross requires jump down from the bank onto the already strained bridge and clambering across. I saw at least one person take a tumble into the water trying to accomplish crossing. The portion of the bridge on the northern bank is basically rotting away and has rusted nails exposed.
I've played in some pretty sketchy places, including the Trenton steel mill, and it's clear to me that some kind of clean up/refurb needs to be done out there. Not only would it make the field better, but it would make it safer for players. At this point, I'm skeptical that the waiver would offer full legal protection for the field owner given how poorly maintained most of those structures are.
Overall, a fun game. I'll definitely be back for the next Firestorm. A big "thank you" to Canto for hosting, providing food and giving a solid safety briefing.

Was a good day for airsoft for sure. Friday night when I read about what time the event started I asked Canto as he was sitting across from me and was told noon, turns out that was when registration opened up, so sorry about that.
This game I wanted to let someone else take the lead for once, so I could get to the basics of working on trying to clear out the village, airfield, or assault the hill. I will say from a "lowly rifleman" perspective I wasn't really passed anything as far as missions go. Originally we were given one objective in the first half and one after we resumed from break, that's about a far as I got. My only real advice on this would be if you're the team commander you should ensure you have direct communication with at least one dude from each group in your team, or you personally jump between the channels and pass information (We were given channels 1-4, and given that Command net was 1, this repeat message would have to only be done three more times)
The game play itself was good. I had a few back to back hiccups with hit calling, one of whom I called out as it was right in the neck through a cutout in the wall, and after watching a pretty gnarly flinch I seen a rifle come pointed back out. I yelled out "Don't be that guy" and he called himself out, maybe it was guilt of getting called out, but later in the afternoon at staging I seen a tan guy with a 6mm welt in the exact area I would have made contact with. If "that guy" specifically is reading this, and wants to post/PM a selfie of just your neck area to prove me wrong on that one, I'll shut my mouth. Second one was a guy in ACU clean in the arm, flat out same issue, only I didn't yell out on that one. Other than that it seemed pretty good, I heard one guy shoot a volley at me as I was running to the base of the village and he yelled at me claiming to have gotten a hit, so it's easy to see how mistakes can be made.
The refs being on channel 20, sub-channel 1 was about my only safety gripe of the day. A lot of guys don't have radios that can do channels like that, so me reaching Canto or any HiTW staff wasn't going to happen. In the future probably just having mods on channel 1 is always a safe bet, as almost everyone has at least channel 1.
Would have also been nice to have had deadwood throughout the day, especially given the rain and the cold, it was probably pretty safe to say paintballers weren't going to make it out. Could have been a private party that got cancelled or something, I don't know, but not having the ability to get up there to get around the village makes it pretty difficult.
Great game overall Canto, can't wait to see what else you've got in store for us.
EDIT: For sure agree about the Polar* thing. That dude with the 80rps hose was just ridiculous. Also the field could use some "Sprucing up" which should be done in the form of purchasing some weather treated lumber rather than attempting to scrap anything presently standing. Maybe $500 in lumber renovations and $50 in quikcrete and you've got an entirely new village that'll stand for another 10 years.

I had a great time. I had one instance in which I hit someone, they flinched, and they then turned to go a different way but other than that there weren't any problems. I did however find all the "call your hits" yelling from tan (green had some too to be fair) quite obnoxious while we were defending the Northern Ridge for a good couple hours. Those that were yelling need to understand that #1: we have the high ground, #2: we have obviously dug ourselves in, and #3: you are shooting into overgrowth and tree overhangs. Also, whining about people not calling your "hits" from the OTHER SIDE of the valley is absolutely ridiculous. Whoever you are, we couldn't even hear the impacts of your bb's when you fired. Thats how far away from us you were. If anyone would like to refute this, I have video footage of all of the encounters and would be happy to post them.
Other than those things, I had a lot of fun. I lost my Leatherman Skeletool early in the day and luckily was able to back track and find it so I was very happy about that.
To the guy who time and time again assaulted the ridge with only a spring shotgun, major kudos to you. You got closer to us by yourself than anyone else did without an entire squad/organized push.
I too agree with Gimp and Mosin about the P* ROF and fixing up of structures.

Herro thar everyone! Thank you to everyone that braved the cold and wet weather for a day of airsoft! The fact that everyone seemed to have fun despite less than ideal weather and a few incidents is always good to hear.
It's always unfortunate to hear about players not calling their hits. It's also inevitable and as a long time event host, unfortunate to always hear about it... =/ Glad to hear you all seemed to have fun despite it...
I heard about the PolarStar incident, I'm sorry to hear that people need to act like this. Sorry to hear this happened amigo. =/
You're not the only lost and found complaint I had the other day Legionnaire. If I come across that or any of the paintballers turn it in, I'll be sure and hit you up.
To formally address the structure problem, I agree with you. I've been debating trying some kind of free recreational style game where we would work on/upgrade an area of the field and then play on what we just built to see how it's changed. The owner more or less let's me handle everything airsoft related event wise and field wise for the back main play area. Any of the long-time members/forum moderators that posted about this, feel free to PM me. I would rather not make this public as it's more of a personal matter.
A special thank you goes out to Big Texas for taking pictures. Thanks a bunch buddy!
It's really always good to see old long time friends/forum members. Kinda funny we're all still playing this silly game...
I'll post a more updated after action report a little later on, life calls...

I had an absolute blast. Most everything has been said, but I do have one little bit of info: There will be a big game at Bangor next year, and its gonna blow your mind straight thru your shoes. The condition of the field shall be vastly improved, as I was disappointing in the condition of what I would call my "home field" myself. Couple trips to Home Depot and we'll make it right. Great to see all my homies, and meet the new guys. Had a blast the night before, and a ton of fun running around with you all all day. Hope to see everyone out again, and keep your eyes peeled for something awesome around the spring.

Gimpalong, I might have to steal your name after this...my knee still hurts after yesterday...
Canto, thanks for the great game, Firestorm is always a hit and miss game due to the weather during this time of year, but rain or shine I have always had the best time of the season playing at the Firestorm series. It was wet, it was cold, but I had a great time despite the mud and injury to my knee (for anyone that was on tan I was the one that limped and slowed everyone down just before lunch).
Ahh Timm if only I had been able to drop a round on you and that blasted PKM, I saw ya but couldn't get an angle on you to get a shot off.
A shout out to my my friend and teammate Zombie for taking over the CO position since our original CO was unable to attend, and thanks to Preacher for taking XO. It was great to be under good command and that kept us in control 90% of the day. I'm curious to find out if we won!
The sportsmanship for the most part was excellent. I know a lot of players on both teams and have no doubts in my mind they played honorably. Near the end though it seems that some (on both teams) also got fatigued and tempers started to run.

From a command standpoint this OP felt like a super fight between two highly trained and motivated cage fighters trading strikes for five brutal rounds.
I would personally like to thank all players both tan and green for bringing their A game, green gave us all one hell of a run. Individually to all the tan players you guys were awesome, great team effort!
Most importantly thank you Canto for a great day of airsofting.
zombie.
Additional: Thanks Triggs!

All day rong, both teams fought valiantly and aggressivery. All I kept hearing from players on both factions was how hard and well the other side was fighting. That: "they just got here or took this, and then got immediately repelled or pushed back."
Objective wise both teams completed nearly every single objective thrown at them. However the extremely aggressive and persistent levels of combat, combined with large levels of causalities on both sides rate Operation: Firestorm IV (2014) as a battlefield stalemate.
In all honesty guys, this was one of the better events I've seen game play wise. You guys all fought really hard. It was cool to hear everybody on both sides complaining about how well the other team was fighting. =) Normally you don't hear stuff like that. Normally all I hear is bitching about the other team not calling it. Which is inevitable anyway.
Outside of the Porarstar incident and as above mentioned inevitable players not calling it issue, yesterday was a great day of airsoft!
I do feel the muddy sropes caused players to be a bit more fatigued and as also mentioned caused tempers to flare a bit. Can't be helped though, good old Michigan weather for us...
All these years of hosting events guys, the amount of support myself and Hole in the Wall Paintball have received from the Michigan Airsoft community never ceases to amaze me. Probably why I'm still here doing this sirry shooting game...

I can honestly say that this event was one of, if not, the most enjoyable airsoft events I have ever been too. All the players were extremely curdious and professional. The staff was extremely helpful and organized. I am looking forward to heading back to hole in the wall in the future. Once again thank you Canto and all your staff for an amazing experience and you awesome hospitality. Also, I cant wait to see those pictures!

First off, I'd like to thank canto for throwing such an awesome game! This had to be one of the airsoft experiences I've ever had. The weather was a bit bad,but I really liked the terrian, even with the mud and such. The teams were equaly as aggressive, the last part of the game was my favorite. I was with Triggs up on the ridge with the M60, watching three buildings, and laying down suppressive fire on the opposite ridge. I can't wait to see any videos or pictures. Once again thanks canto. I'd really like to thank Nemo for driving me out there, thanks man!

Many thanks to Cantos for making Firestorm a great first-time Airsoft experience to both myself and my son. Although nature didn't cooperate at times, we had the time of his life! Although my mobility was very limited, you were correct, it was more fun than I could have imagined. We're hooked! Everyone was friendly and teamwork was great at Firestorm.

First of all I have to give a huge shout out to Nemo for giving me and my friend a ride to firestorm. And secondly I have a big thanks to Canto for throwing such an amazing game. Good job man. I must say the terrain was a bit rough but that's what made it soo fun. This has got to be one of the best games I have ever been to. Had such a great time with my teammates. I will definitely be coming out to this field again some day!!
