Jesus, I don't log in every day for a while and this is what happens?
On a side note, I went through this with Proboards a while back when we had to prohibit people from selling real guns and knives in Commerce. At the time, they did not consider airsoft to be weapons, so we were still ok. It appears that in the intervening 3 or 4 years they have reversed that decision. This likely has everything to do with Proboards being based in the People's Republic of Kalifornia and the fact that they would piss themselves if they had even the slightest chance of being open to a lawsuit should someone be injured by something sold through one of their forums. And before anyone asks (or in case anyone already did) Proboards does maintain ownership over the database that comprises this forum. We're more than welcome to manually copy anything over to a new forum down the road if we want (because they can't really stop us from doing that even if we wanted to), but they will in no way release the data itself all in one lump to be rehosted on other software.
And I can say from experience there's no point in arguing with them on the Support Proboards site regarding anything to do with the TOS. They will interpret it how they want, and you can either accept it or kick rocks.
Proboards has been very anti-gun for years and only appears to be getting more-so. It sucks, but we don't have many options sadly.

I also had the thought about proboards being located in Commyfornia;was wondering if maybe the timing is linked to the passage of the bill there against "realistic" looking airsoft guns. Well I was working on some new OC for something else, but if we do end up with a new website I'll gladly post it there to help bump the page counts and get webcraweled faster .

All I know is this Reddit thing sucks, tried to check sales ads and said screw this almost right away. I suggest the Facebook thing like many other places do.. If someone doesnt like Fb, or whatever, I feel thats their problem. Its about the greater good, not one or two people that dont have, or dont like FB. Anyone else sick of not having a commerce yet? I need things, and want to sell things.. I assume there are numerous others feeling the same way.

I feel the same way, I think more people use Facebook than Reddit to be honest.

^ Yes, I agree with this completely. I'm ok with Facebook, but I would rather have a new forum for the commerce section. I also dislike the Reddit commerce, but it was only supposed to be a temporary thing while things get figured out for good.
The thing is, if we have a new forum dedicated just to the commerce section, I don't think it will be quite as popular as our previous one just because not as many people will participate (just look at r/miacommerce. There's barely over a page of stuff). So it either needs to be very well integrated into our existing forum (yet avoiding a ToS violation) or we need a new forum.

We actually just changed the "Michigan Airsoft" official Facebook page to become a closed group, and opened up commerce to be conducted there. Look us up, it's the group with just over 700 members already.

The whole pro-bards thing is what majorly sucks and right now reddit is giving us a simple solution that allows anyone to see and read the sales threads without having to make an account. Is it perfect? Not even close but it's better than nothing at the moment. If you guys would like to make a facebook MIA commerce section, that would be great as well. I would have done it myself if I had a facebook account but I don't and I have a feeling that there are a good amount of people on MIA that don't have facebook accounts either. I can see the benefits of setting something up on facebook but again there are also drawbacks in using that platform because don't you have to have an account just to see what's posted there? Wouldn't a place that allows everyone access be for the greater good? Then again if someone doesn't like reddit or whatever, I feel that's their problem. The more avenues we can use while we don't have a permanent solution though, the better it would be for us.
One suggestion though, if you don't like what is available now, be a part of the solution instead of just bitching about it. Nobody else in all of MIA has more reason to be upset at the commerce section being taken away than I do. I owned that commerce section. I've done more transactions and given more people their starts than anyone else. If anyone wants proof just count the number of threads I started and take a look at how many people have done transactions with me in the seller/buyer ratings section. I know people who made MIA accounts just so they could buy something off of me on MIA. So yeah if anyone should be more upset it would be me but instead of bitching about it, at least we now have a venue that we can use while we are waiting on a better solution.
Yes reddit sucks but guess what? Commerce is happening. Since we've opened the reddit page, I've had 5 transactions completed there and I know a few members have had some success as well. It's not perfect but it works.

So talking is considered bitching? By chance are you related to my wife? Haha.. Calm down buddy, just because someone is adding input, does not mean its bitching, its called conversating, or communicating. Reddit seemed extremely confusing, so I gave up. I even made an account for it. Facebook is pretty much an open page, just scroll down the page, just like we already have been doing for many years on here.
I have been a member here a long time too, and frustrates me also buddy. I cannot be the only person that felt overwhelmed looking at Reddit. It seems like a giant clusterfuck, or maybe its just a mobile version? I admit, I did not try on the pc, just my huge smartphone.
Talking about the issue IS doing something about it, it IS participating, otherwise nobody would know what is happening correct? Without getting on here and talking, we would all be in the dark on this. Being that since I posted earlier, now I find out that there is a Facebook group for this forum, funny right? I bet others did not know this either.

I don't know if this is helpful at all but we could just have both. Some people like Reddit, some people like Facebook, why not just have both. I'm sure my idea is flawed but I'm just trying to help.
