When you make blanket statements, that's what happens.

Sorry I guess I should of added that in my opinion this forum is 95 percent dead to me. I only come here for commerence and events. So now there is only events and new events are slim.

Most of the posts in this thread have become childish and argumentative. This is a really terrible way to get people to try and join your "community."
Deacon, your short posts could easily be considered flame baiting - do you honestly believe you are going to sway the opinions of the masses this way? Why would people want to join a place where the individual running it is acting like his cheerios got pissed in because a link was removed from the forum? I for one am increasingly losing interest with every additional post you make.

I proposed we make a commerce section that allows everything but the sale of complete airsoft gat blasters. Considering a good bit of airsoft is gear and parts, that'd still leave just about everything open to sale save for a complete replica. Waiting to hear back from other Mods on that before we pull trigger. Do want.

Im not sure if anyone has mentioned this but couldn't we setup a table for guns that are for sale at games? I saw that up at an op where canto hosts, not a bad idea to swap info and talk of the forums if you were interested in something.

I've been a part of those in the past at various fields, and generally the eagerness of players to just be able to play meant that there never really became a distinct period for people to shop around the stands. It really felt like it just became more trouble for event hosts than it was worth to the overall community.
Then again, I just had bad luck every time (something always got broken), so I am perhaps not the right person to speak about said concept.

I'd like to see an MiA Expo with opportunities to buy and sell gear, but also workshops for learning how to do basic tears downs and tech work.

Okay, so my question on this is whole situation is one that I haven't seen answered yet:
Why is the mod staff (or people in general) so opposed to starting up a new place/utilizing MI6mm for expansion?
I know there's probably a lot going on that us non-mods don't know about, but I can't be the only one who's wondering why there's such negativity towards it.
Not having commerce on these boards really sucks, and relying on Facebook or reddit has got me pretty much nowhere. While I understand this is a treasure trove of irreplaceable information, it's not going anywhere. As long as proboards is still running, MIA will exist along with all of it's info.
So I'd like to know: why is their negativity towards a potentially viable solution (all personal attacks aside)?

Why is the mod staff opposed to starting up a new place/utilizing MI6mm for expansion? I'll answer this one on behalf of myself, and myself only. The biggest thing for anyone who has been a part of this forum for the closer end of a decade is that boards like these pop up about once every two years. I myself attempted to start one as I mentioned before because I was tired of the good ol' boy mentality this place had taken on, where if you weren't part of the "in" crowd of a select few you were harshly discriminated against. This has obviously since changed as multiple entities of players have left and new blood has taken over the moderation staffing. It's very hard to move a database of this nature over to a new forum, but that aside there is a history of this forum itself that is a direct reason why if you google "Airsoft in Michigan" you get this forum as the #2 link (Damn you Airsoft Society). To relocate on the premise that we lost the ability to sell one aspect of a multitude of shit we buy and sell seems pretty silly to me personally, and it's not reason enough to say "welp, time to pull chalks". I personally endorse Michigan 6mm, and any other sub forum as they can usually draw good crowds of active players, but looking at it from a pragmatic perspective, at the end of the day miairsoft.proboards has always been Michigan Airsoft proper, and unless Proboards bans the discussion of Airsoft altogether, will always remain. Another huge reason is Deacon registered on MiA in February of 2013, which means that he hasn't even been a part of the airsoft community as a whole for more than two years as far as the forum front is concerned (I'm sure he started bb warzing long before that as we all had, but I'm just going off fact). To trust something of a magnitude to someone who hasn't even been around that long is something of a large risk to say the least for most of the staff on hand. To simply say off of good faith that you're going to trust someone who doesn't host, doesn't own land, hasn't been a mod, or hasn't done anything other than purchase a website domain and do some forum tweaking to own and shape the future of Michigan airsoft is a huge risk. At least with Hadoken we know he's out of the game, and will forever remain a neutral party to everything related to Michigan Airsoft as a whole. We also have Knief, but he's been around for over a decade and honestly has also remained sort of a silent neutral guy. I guess what I'm trying to say is it's very easy to say you'll promise this and that, and you'll remain neutral, but once this website is closed and all the keys to the kingdom are in one person's possession whom the community as a whole doesn't really know, it's literally too easy to see where that can lead to a downhill spiral. Hell, it's the reason RAGE fell apart as hard as it did a few months back.

Personal History on MiA: I Lurked from 2006 to 2009. The reason this account is so new is because of me not realizing you can change your name instead of delete and start over. Now that Proboards upgraded their shit, My old account and posts are gone.(or are extremely hard to find.) Like many people here my name changed as I grew kind of tired of it. Team History: My first team was Immortal. I left after I found out about the promotions ceremonies and rank structures. I also didn't like having to drive an hour to Birch Run for mandatory practices. After that I went teamless until I met Pagan and eventually joined the Suicide Kings. After that I went Teamless in late 2013. I've been that way since. miairsoft.proboards.com/thread/26289/trustkill Earliest Commerce transaction was in May 2009 when I became active. Events: My first Milsim was the OP Durbond Series. I participated in Events at SFOD in Davison, I participated in Tropic Thunder at PT Outdoors way the hell out at 28 Mile (If I remember correctly.), I've participated in countless Rec games at No Limits/Action Paintball and know the Owner by First name. Hosting: I've helped Pagan host MANY events over the years now since the Hellfish handed over the reins. Now that Jeremy has an awesome change in life happening, Myself and a few of his other Teammates are stepping up to maintain games at No Limits. I've been providing tech work for people on MiA now for a very long time.. Mosin you know exactly who I am. That's the sad part that you'd bring any of my history on MiA up. This is who I am in case you forgot: www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=654532879This is my tech work page that I launched after being pressured by many of my close friends: www.facebook.com/DeaconcustomsAs far as the visitors and search results, MiA has had 10 years to get things established. Michigan6mm Was started in October. I'm frankly quite sick of the bullshit on MiA who has done nothing but tear a constructive community apart. I've already stated that everyone can maintain their "Power." I've already stated that it's self sustaining. I've already said that it will remain FREE and Ad Free. I've already stated that all of the information to the account is in a public place and more than one person has access. All I got was well... We don't trust you. And Silence. It was started by a Passionate player and is backed by many passionate players. This is the end of me posting on MiA.

I've stayed silent on this in the open forum, but there is something things I want to add to this and then I'm done. I won't be responding after this. Deacon is Brandon's second account. His first account under Trust was a member here before I joined just under 5 years ago. He was the first member I made a purchase from and the third member I met from this site in person. He created the new forum as an alternative venue when we lost the commerce section of MIA. Nothing more. The amount of animosity he has received for trying to do something good for the community is unbelievable. He put in his time an effort into something for a community he loves, and pretty much has been dragged through the mud for it. I think a personal attack on someone's character for trying to do something nice for the community is uncalled for and childish. I'm done with this topic from here on out. I've seen how people have been acting about this, and I want nothing more to do with the subject.

Why is the mod staff opposed to starting up a new place/utilizing MI6mm for expansion? Speaking for myself, I'm a fan of Michigan 6MM. The moderating staff on MiA have been in discussion about the possibility of switching to another forum platform for quite a long time. These discussions started because of a general feeling that Proboards wasn't providing some of the modern forum features that we'd like to see. These talks intensified when Proboards banned the sale of airsoft guns and forced us to shutdown the commerce section. These talks continue to this day. Deaon, also known as Trust/Trustkill, built MI6MM and demoed it among a group of people, myself included, on Facebook. He has been in active communication with the moderating staff here on MiA. Deacon is not an unknown quantity. He's been around a long time. I bought my first airsoft pistol off of him four or five years ago. The main thing that I want to make clear is that the creation of MI6MM did not stem out of any sort of animosity to MiA. In the past, several Michigan Forums sprang up because people did not like the way MiA was being moderated or because individuals wanted to take a Michigan-based forum in another direction. The goal of MI6MM, at least as I see it, is to provide a better, more functional and modern home for the MiA community where individuals can engage in discussion and also buy/sell guns, gear and equipment without fear of violating ToS. I have been an MiA member since 2006 and have been a huge advocate for this forum. My first question to new people I meet on the field is "what's your name on the MiA forum?" MiA is not nor has it been a perfect community. In the past, the forum was poorly moderated and dissenting opinions were stomped on. Over the last few years, the moderating staff has tried hard to professionalize and create a welcoming community that fosters new players (provided they can spell and use proper grammar ) and open discussion. I think all of the moderators recognize that some form of transition needs to occur in order to continue to provide the highest quality forum experience, but transition or not all of the moderators are committed to seeing MiA continue in some form or another as Michigan's central airsoft community.
