Can't link to the page on my phone but SB199 has passed. Governor Brown plans to sign it. Better order your stuff now before it gets stupid expensive.

Applies to California only, no?

Applies to California only, no? Yes, that is correct. However, the majority of our replicas come from/through there. I'm not sure how it applies to buying parts of guns (as I'm going to be building my own from here on out, except for GBBs). On the bright side, this might push airsoft business closer to us?

Yes, but most if not all of the Airsoft guns come through California, all of the major retailers are there so indirectly, we get effected, because the guns need to be colored in order to be sold, even if shipping out of state.

Governor Brown plans to sign it. According to Facebook, he already signed it in and it goes into effect at the start of 2016.

Well, GI already has a store in VA. I get the feeling that they'll just move most, if not all of their gun distribution through that store instead. Which means airsoft might start coming to the east coast more.

They're also opening a store in Texas. It doesn't help Evike or any of the other west coast dealers but it's something. Would they have to paint guns that are coming from Hong Kong because they happen to pass through Kalifornia?

I swear Cali government just loves to be the odd one out and it screws with everyone that isn't in Cali too.

I caught a little bit of ASGI's live show yesterday, and the CEO said that guns going out of state will not have to be colorized.

I don't want to start any speculation or rumors, so please only answer if you know for certain and can prove it.
I went and read SB199 again online, and it left me thinking this time. All airsoft guns sold before the "colorization" goes into effect in CA won't be marked. What does that make them legally once the required colorizations are in place? I assume very few airsofters keep records of all purchases (I know I don't), so if it can't be proven that the gun was bought before the laws initiation, what is to stop it from being seized and the owner fined? No airsoft guns are registered in any way either. The legal issues that would arise with them being considered firearms then is another kettle of fish that I don't want to go into.
The sheer ignorant, deranged idealism and uselessness of this law doesn't need to be expounded further; I'm just looking for answers.

Doesn't really seem like that big of a deal honestly, aside from the fact that more legislatiom may come down the pike in other states. Very little of the actual AEG needs to be colorized. In the original SB199 bill the entire rifle needed to be colorized, so this is a compromise. SB199 requires that 1. pistols have a fluorescent colored trigger guard and a two centimeter fluorescent colored stripe around the circumference of the pistol grip. 2. Rifles have a fluorescent colored trigger guard and a two centimeter fluorescent colored stripe around the circumference of two of the following: the pistol grip, stock or magazine. 3. All replicas must have a blaze orange tip. From the actual bill itself.
