Thinking about picking one of these up. Anybody had any experiences? Pros and cons? All I see so far is good things. Only bad thing I see is part compatibility.

That's the big one. It is not really compatible with most common bolt action parts (VSR or APS). However there is a small russian outfit that makes custom trigger assemblies. A buddy of mine who invested in one found he couldn't get it to preform the way he wanted until he bought that part.
Really lookers though. Just make sure you know the difference between their 700 series and 338 series.

Hey there. Sorry I didn't see this earlier, but I currently own the MSR and wanted to inform you about a few things in case you decide to pick one up.
First off, the externals are beautiful. Sturdy and well machined. There is a bit of wobble in the stock, but there has been a kit made by ares to fix it. It's heavy! About the same weight, maybe alittle less than a M249.
Internally, the thing was a major disappointment. The spring guide, position, piston head were all plastic. The spring guide snapped right away. The Sear and trigger parts are pot metal and the catch for the piston shows signs of decent wear after around only 200 shots. I know most snipers are like this stock, but I expected better from Ares, especially for the $500 price tag. On the bright side the air seal from the cylinder is fairly decent stock.
Accuracy out of the box isn't terrible, although it does leave room for improvement. The barrel is brass, and the bucking is fairly decent. Barrel length is 430mm.
Overall, if you buy the gun, make sure it is only for the externals. In order to make this thing effective, you'll have to basically start from scratch like any other $120-180 rifle. Most things will need to be replaced, and you'll really have to research to see what will and will not work. I've had decent luck with Angel custom vsr-10 barrels, buckings and spring guides. I'd recommend Ares spring and piston upgrades just so you can know for sure they will fit well.
That's my opinion on the rifle. It looks great and will make you stand out on the field, but just be prepared to put a lot of time and money working on it to get it to where you would want it.
