Anytime I'm looking for an event/events to go to, It seems so confusing that in the events section, events are organized in order of most recent post, not date of event. On top of that, there are different date formats used, like 15AUG, or 8/15, which makes it difficult to just glance over what dates are open. I am not ripping on the current system, and am not trying to reinvent the wheel, but rather propose an alternative that I think many would appreciate. I had this idea, and upon Googling if it was do-able, I ironically found out it had already been done; Google CalendarIn spirit this would be similar to Cats (Doom)'s MAP. The idea is simple; There would be a Thread in the events section called 'MiA Events Callendar'. This page would be hosted on a gmail address of someone willing to keep the calendar up to date(I'm starting school and work, and I'm lazy, so I'm passing on the savings idea to YOU!). As events are normally approved in Event Planning and moved to 'Airsoft Events', said calendar host adds said events to the Google Calendar. When someone wants to see what events are happening, they click the link to the 'MiA Events Calendar', and see what is happening when and where. From the calendar you could then get the basic details of the event, like admission price and location, and a link would be provided to the actual event page on MiA. Input? That'd be great! It would help me feel useful! Just please don't flame/threadcrap. Want the idea for yourself? Who cares! Feel free to delete this thread and take all the credit if you want! I just want an event calendar! Hate it? At least tell me why it doesn't make sense! Be constructive, because opinions are just that, opinions. Just don't tell me 'it sucks'!

This sounds awesome. I would nominate Pagan since he's seems like he's always on top of things when it come to events. If not Pagan then Mosin.

I like the idea but it just seems like extra work for the mods. However wouldn't be too bad if s player just decided that pick it up.
I don't got shit to do tonight other than download Star Wars: Empire At War from Steam tonight, and I just slept for 5 hours, so I'm pretty wired, I'll post it up in a separate thread and a mod can move it to the events section.
I'll even take care of it for awhile until I get tired of updating it and pass it of to someone else.

A mod already has to move a event from planning to the event section, I dont see it being too difficult to post it to a calendar at the same time. A format would be needed, like color coded for what section of the state the game is in, red could be SE and blue could be SW and north could be a different color......
REC: date, Place Start Time: End time: Cost:

If one of the forum moderators or administrators wanted to enable the proboards calender function/tab I would be happy to operate and maintain it.

If you give the mods some time to review this or messaged them they may activate the calendar section and make you a mod of that section

Not a bad Idea, I would have liked for the calendar to be in the events section, as it was supposed to be a quick reference, but either way works.

I fooled around with a free proboards forum a while ago to get an idea of how the forum controls worked out of curiosity and it should be fairly easy to either put the proboards calendar in a specific area or put it on the main toolbar with the home button and such.

There's a ProBoards Calendar? Damn, I feel like this should've been thought of years ago.
I was just in the mood to write down one of my ideas. Frankly, I was expecting to come here and find a bunch of threadcrapping, but it's quite oppositely so!

Hate to burst your bubble, but the probards calendar is a giant pain to use.
The event has to be created in the calendar, you aren't able to move items into it. Several of us mods who host events, tried using it to coordinate events, and had nothing but problems with it, so we stopped.
If someone wants to set up a calendar, feel free. The current system is working just fine, so I don't see any reason to change it on the forum.

Is there any way to embed the google calendar into the site? Anyways, if the proboards one is a pain in the ass, I have no problem maintaining the google calendar, the only pain about it was inputting all the information at once. Dealing with events as they pop up should be fairly easy. Since we are dealing with google here, we have the added benefit of syncing it with smartphones.

Nope, it's a built in proboards function.
