How's everyone doing? My name's Jayce, I'm from Howell, I'm 34, and I'm a newb. After watching some vids on youtube I decided to check out airsoft and I went down to TD Tactical and I'm sold. I plan on ordering my first gun soon, and I already tried to get some eye-pro unfortunately despite many reviews that Arena Flakjak's are great with glasses, it's been proven untrue for my personal pair. Contacts are right out, I've tried twice and my eye's just won't accept them. I've also heard very good things about ESS Land Ops, but once bitten, twice shy.... if anyone in the Livingston county area knows where I might find a pair to try on first, or would be willing to let me test out the fit with their own please let me know. BTW Arena Flakjaks for sale..... decent price.

Welcome to the forum's. Any chance you can look into smaller frame glasses, if you can get something smaller they will fit, Arena's are huge, so I don't think you will find anything bigger without sacrificing field of view.
Also if you're dead set on selling them we have a commerce section.

Well, that certainly puts a damper on my enthusiasm. But only as to it being a little while longer until I can really get started. I'll see if I can find a cheap pair of lower profile glasses to fit inside my goggles. So I'm seeing that Futureball is somewhere to be avoided, does anyone go to Hells Survivors often? How often do the run airsoft events?

Events are run as often as you see them pop up in the events section here on MIA. If you don't see anything listed then there's no game in the immediate future.

Cool, thank you.
Personally, the milsim events appeal more to me, but it will be a while until I build a loadout. So for the time being I'll be limited to rec games until I get to know my gun and hopefully some of you. I've been familiarizing myself with the forums and find a lot of the info very helpful. Many of the threads are very informative and in depth, so thank you for that.

You don't need a loadout to go to a Milsim event. All you really need is a set of BDU (woodland or DCU are good starters), an AEG, a bottle of water, and some mid caps. But of course, that is bare minimum. Heck, you can carry the mid-caps in your pockets for a while before you have some load bearing system.
But, it is a good idea to attend rec game first, just to see if you have a taste for it. Just try some smaller SCEN games after the first few rec games.

Milsim is Military Simulation. Walking around in M81 with a water bottle and a bunch of mid caps in your pockets is not Milsim. I would also argue that the bare minimum for a Milsim (and any game for that matter) should include a radio. I'm not saying you need to blow thousands and look indistinguishable from the real deal, but have something that is decently put together so you can safely carry the things you'll need. But, it is a good idea to attend rec game first, just to see if you have a taste for it. Just try some smaller SCEN games after the first few rec games. I would recommend this as well. At REC games you can screw up an objective or two and no one will really care. You can also get a feel for how the game plays outdoors. CQB and field play are very different in my opinion. Indoors has everyone in a confined space and at pretty short range. Targets are plentiful and shots are pretty easy. Outside people can hide pretty much anywhere and you will get an idea of how limited your range is. You will easily spot people way further than you can shoot (where the radio comes in). Welcome to the sport.

Hey, I agree that a loadout is better and adds to the game (I, myself, hate when people show up without proper gear) I'm just telling him that you don't have to be a MilSim/loadout king in order to play at the games.

Thanks, first I'm going to try and find some lower profile glasses, luckily my prescription is only 2 months old. But my new frames come out a little bit from the lenses. Luckily glassesusa.com has complete pair for under 50 bucks.
