Also look into silent piston heads if you're really serious and dedicated about making it as quiet as possible. I personally don't like the idea of them but other people love them.

Like airborn said, or also, sorbo pads are known to reduce noise a bit. You'll have to tinker with it. Personally, I don't find silencers to be super effective. Especially with gearbox noise.

Personally, I don't find silencers to be super effective. Especially with gearbox noise. First, off this thread is well beyond the 2 week necro cut off. Second, silencers will NOT be effective at gearbox noise. That noise is not channeled into the silencer at all. Silencers only help with the POP of air coming out of the gun. Don't believe me then check the out some objective testing. www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/BulletDetail?bulletID=77They don't give the distance that they measure the sound from. Considering that they are measuring 80 DB they are probably right next to the gun. If they were further away the db drop as a percentage of total sound would be greater since the gearbox is what you mostly hear up close.

X is correct the restart of the thread was a necro post, but continuing to respond just keeps it open for discussion.
If a thread has been dead for over two weeks please refrain from responding unless you are adding something of earth moving value. Continuing to respond to necro posts just keeps a dead thread going.
