Cats, I do believe that is what he means by that.
Tank, While I was talking to them it seemed a little bit more like they wanted it to be an HPA gun from the start but introduced the Co2 aspect as an appeal to poeple who are all "Oh, but it's sooooooooooooo realistic"

I'm curious though, are you required to run their mags or is it going to be compatibile with regular AEG mags if your running it off a airline (saw someone answered this).
I find that unless this thing can do something great or at least do it at a lower price point I find the system may find it is only able to get as much market share as say a PTW would.
I may however hurt the M4 Daytona gun market. Out of all the DGs the M4 is by far what I've read the biggest pain in the ass to get up and running. Being forced to run with G&P WOC receivers and lower parts kits means that you have to pay out the ass for any receiver that will look nice.
Alittle frustrated that they felt the need to ship it with MBUSs. With PTS no longer able to make the replicas you know those are going to have to be legit MBUSs and will allow the price to be inflated alittle because of it.

If you're running a remote line then you can use any mags you choose. The only time you have to use Tippmann mags is if you're running it with Co2. Last I knew they were going to introduce these at a little more than half the price of a PTW ($450ish last I heard) so they should have a very decent size share of the market.
I'm sure that they don't care if the have to raise the price a little. Pretty much I would call the system a poor mans DG. Around $450 they may very well storm the market. It will be interesting to see what happens with this system.

Already told the wife to expect a new gun in the house. Frankly, I like the idea of being able to switch back and forth between a remote system a la Polarstar to a GIM system. There are some days where I want to run with a tank and others that I don't, so this solves those issues. As far as proprietary parts - that very well may be so. Luckily, Tippmann has AMAZING customer service. I went to the Tippmann versus World game at Hell Survivors a few years ago and the Tippmann booth had a line out the door as they were fixing Tippmann guns for free. I've heard tons of feedback on M Carter Brown (old school paintball website) about people e-mailing Tippmann with problems and having free parts show up at their houses. They aren't the company that they were in the 1990s before the original owner sold out, but they still make reliable guns and provide solid CS. The other thing to consider regarding internal parts is that if the internals truly are just from the M98C, then there are a ton of replacement/upgrade parts on the market already. The one negative thing I can spot is that it looks like it uses an R/T style trigger to provide full auto. The "reactive trigger" is basically an air assisted trigger bouncer that makes the rifle mimic full-auto when it's not entirely fully automatic. I could be wrong though. Only time will tell if this thing is any good or not. Thats got me alittle more interested now. Odds are though that we will have a hard time getting different receiver options for custom builds.
I can't really justify another M4 just to be a M4. ALthough I hope they do really well since it may lead to other platforms getting the Tippnann treatment.

Odds are though that we will have a hard time getting different receiver options for custom builds. Here's where the P* Fusion Engine has the advantage. Because I've got one M4 based gun (my G&P Defender) which if I bought a Fusion Engine, it's a direct drop in. Still going to cost me retail $500 for the Fusion Engine, $70 for an SLP air rig, and figure $170 give or take for an SLP 4500PSI tank. Which is how I would to it again if I bought another one, so it it's going to vary on the rig and tank for each person. Now if I buy the Tippmann M4 I'll have a complete gun for less than the price of a Fusion Engine. A Tippmann remote line is only about $30 and and the tanks will be less expensive too. That's if I choose to invest in a remote line instead of buying GIM magazines and using CO2, but at least I have flexibility. However, I'll have to most likely invest in a new stock, and RIS. So it's possible that it could even out or still be cheaper to go the Tippmann M4 route.

Awesome find on that post Gimpalong. That really sums it all up better than I could. It's definitely an interesting little set up.

Well I'm sold! No more sending my money to the chicoms for over priced airshit accessories for my blasters; using real steel parts on a gun made by Tippmann is enough to get me to buy it.
I wonder if this is going to become the standard rental gun like the m98c did? I'd have to imagine we'll see this popping up at a bunch of paintball stores; tippmann will probabally sponsor some airsoft events for it too. Maybe this could lead to an increase in the popularity of US airsoft overall. All speculation obviously.

The rumor I'm hearing is that MSRP will be $399. That would be very nice to have a complete pneumatic airsoft gun for $100 less than the price of just a fusion engine. With that extra $100, you could put that towards a Tippmann remote line and a Tipmmann CO2 tank, or buy yourself four CO2 magazines and have everything that you need to play with.

I'm not sure how Tippmann has marketed their high-end markers like the Crossover, but I do know that they have made bubble-packed M98Cs available at places like Gander Mountain, Walmart, etc.
So theoretically we could see a "Tippmann Airsoft M4" bubblepacked on a shelf right down the aisle from a remote line and tank.
