In one of the STALKER scenarios I've seen players have their BBs locked up at 1 to 3 different locations before the game, and as the player earns In-game fake money they can "buy" their ammo from the "shops(s)" they had their BBs locked up at. That way you can still have ammo limitations but not everyone can get their grubby mits on your stuff; just you, and a couple trusted event hosts. BBs are checked-in and tracked using name labels on bags. There was a standard BB to fake money conversion, and old water bottles were cut to specific sizes to measure certain amounts of BBs from bags. You could probably do something similar with replicas and gear.

Thats kind of what I was thinking, since most of us wouldn't want others to use our replica's.
