So I posted about my G&P motor that crapped out on me over in the tech section. What I want to know over here is if I should stick with the same motor when I order a new one, or get something else. I did do some reading earlier that suggested that these G&P m120's aren't really the best in that class. When it was working, it worked fine so far as I can tell, but it went down in such a way that kind of make's me think that it might happen again.
Im not looking to spend more than ~$50 for a motor capable of handling 120+ springs. One model that I am considering is the lonex high torque motor. If you guys can give your thoughts on which would be the better motor,or have suggestions for a different motor, I would really appreciate it.

Anything with neodynium magnets. My top picks would be some of the following. JG blue SHS/matrix/whateverelse rebranded ACM torque JG red Lonex torque
It will really come down to what ROF you are looking for, but all of the above should cover most reasonable ranges even on stock gears. What battery are you using and what is your gear ratio? I personally like extremely high torque motors because they run cool and efficient and give great response. You can always gear them up with higher speed gears if they are too slow, but I have no idea if you that's something you are considering in the slightest.

A lonex red balanced motor will handle any spring you should have in an aeg, outside of a 550fps dmr build. I've had mine running 40+ rps at 385fps on 11.1's with no problem

I'm planning on using it in a stock g&p m120 spring gearbox, with an 11.1 lipo. Rate of fire doesn't matter much anymore, I shaved the selector plate to make it safe,semi,semi, so that I can go above 400 fps. The first time I chronoed with the stock g&p gearbox,hopup,and 510mm 6.03 prommy barrel, I was shooting ~430. Today I finished repairing the gearbox wiring and took advantage of the opportunity to do the usual AOE adjustment, airsealing, reshimming. Until I have the new motor, I can't chrono, but I'm guessing It'll be at least over 400 again. Maybe in the spring I'll try my hand at an Rhop.

I do r-hops and that sounds about right. In my experience you cant go long with a lonex motor. For your setup a balanced motor should be just fine.

I would be happy to take any free advice on the Rhop, but as with the gearbox tech work I like to learn and do it myself to get a better understanding of how things work.

If you only have semi then I think one of the he higher torque motors will treat you a little better than the balanced since you don't need the speed and trigger response should be your priority. The lonex balanced is still a good choice but would be my top pick for this build since it will likely not give quite as good response and will run a little warmer and less efficiently in general while you do not really benefit from its speed.

Hopefully on not too late on this, but I have been using an echo 1 red motor(pretty much the jg) in my gun, and on an m110 it almost cycles twice in semi auto. It is crazy high torque, and still allows me to have a high ROF (22 on average). It's also the coolest running motor I've used.

Yep I'd take a jg over a lonex any day, but lonex is still a good choice. The jg just has quite a bit stronger magnets.

I've heard that the jg blues are more powerful but slower. Have you noticed anything like a need for a faster trigger response using it in semi, or has it been fast enough. That being said, if there's no significant difference in speed, I might go for that over Lonex.
Edit: Nevermind, I looked it up and believe I've answered my own question.

The blue is really slow. It will likely do about twenty rps on an 11.1 with standard gears. The red is faster than the blue though. Both will give you great trigger response, but honestly nothing beats a lower gear ratio when it come to trigger response IMO. I have riot 10.44:1 gears and a Frankentorque motor that gives wicked fast response. Other than going with a DSG I don't think it gets much quicker. Another thing to consider though is trigger pull. Most AEGs have a long pull and reset. Installing a trigger fet like the specter and shortening the pull will help a lot. That is actually the next thing on my list.

Well full auto is disabled, so its all about the trigger response.

I think it is typically accepted in the tech community that most motors never reach their top speed during the first cycle. Motors with more torque will theoretically accelerate faster and can often hit a higher speed within the first cycle than a high speed, even if the maximum speed of the high speed motor s faster. This is because the faster motor takes a few cycles to get fully up to speed, hence giving the "slower" torque motor faster trigger response. Obviously this is only true up to a certain point because if you had a motor with infinite torque but only turned at 10rpm it would clearly have a slower trigger response than pretty much any other notor.
Since trigger response is hard to quantify no one really knows exactly where this point is, but I believe you will get faster response from a jg blue than a lonex, though the difference will be very small anyways. Aside from trigger respnse though, more torquey motors run cooler and suck less battery. I'd say save the money and get a jg blue, but just make sure you get the m42 with neo magnets (silver) and not the other blue one they sell.

Yeah, black casing and says "super high power?" Its looking like its gonna be cheaper than the lonex models.
