Had a fun time at this Op, thank you SK and Pagan! I tried my best to maintain communication even though I forgot my throat mic.
For starters, although I was in green squad 1 I tried to maintain security of the FOB and reverand throughout. It became clear early that our squad had dissolved into a "I'll go do whatever I want" mode and everyone scattered. I tried to countinue to search for viruses with Novak and Marty, which it seemed to be only us and the other squad. I really enjoyed rolling with the guys on green team that had the NODS by the castle; felt like that was the most organized, fluid movement throughout the OP that I experienced. The full moon above the thick fog made for a great environment and feel!
-dinner was great and thanks deb for the marshmallows -props and organization were spot on -great time!

Was a decent game but with lots of issues. Miss communication was one of them, being on S5/tan We were very organized. The first half went Ok, good communication between everyone, but really few engagements between us and the green team. Second half was absolutely terrible. First problem was the code name or whatever, changing it 3 times confused everyone and was more of a con than a pro. Second one was identifying your own team mates. It was so bad the we were in the city fighting and killing 2 squads of our own team.. At events like this a small glow stick indicating which team is who would really help( don't tell me this wouldn't work because ODA had V lights and no one could see them). Third problem was miss communication between squads and the xo/co. S5/s3 were at the right side of the castle in the city completely blocking it. We got a command over the radio to fall back to the castle because it was under heavy fire. Everyone stated to run there finding out there was no one but friendlys -_- and that was the game breaker basically since ODA and the whole green team basically took over because we left our positions.

I had a great time, and I'm looking forward to the next one. It wasn't perfect, and there were definitely communication issues, but that's nothing out of the ordinary.
We definitely weren't using V Lites for team identification. If someone had a visible V Lite on it was to mark that they were dead or something else. We used IR strobes and IR Chems for marking each other, which are not visible to the naked eye.
For IDing people that you're unsure of, either use a visible flashlight or yell at them to confirm. If they don't reply or start shooting at you, shoot back. This always seems to be an issue, and any night game, even if people were to wear chems that were for each team, would still have this issue. I am not a fan of requiring always on visible stuff for team identification.

I'm going to apologize for playing a role we shouldn't have. I will leave the politics out of it, but most of us thought the "mercs" side had been built into the game as it has been several times before. This is not Pagan or SK's fault, it was a failure within our group to communicate. I'm not a fan of having a third faction as it causes confusion and constant friendly fire. While playing the game it was painfully obvious that a 3rd faction had not been written into the story and I felt it detracted from getting things done. Most of our team isn't on the forum, but I will apologize from all of us for any issues we caused. We have already discussed the issues within our group and have taken steps to prevent this sort of thing from happening again. Hopefully there aren't any hard feelings as we genuinely enjoy getting out and playing with everyone.
When I was pulled aside and informed of the situation I was pretty disappointed. If you have a grudge against me I get it, but I do personally apologize to everyone and the SK group.
I was not aware of a second "merc" group. If there was one I can't speak to their actions.

I was not aware of a second "merc" group. If there was one I can't speak to their actions. I think they were referring to the roleplayers.

It happened to me twice where I started asking which team then got lid up.

By the time you guys got there I think they pushed the remaining green out of there. Unfortunately, in the dark it's hard to tell exactly how many guys were out there. Someone told me green had crossed short bridge so of course I pulled in more resources to keep the FOB secure. Whether they actually were that many or if they crossed I have no idea. That was just the information I was given at the time. Thanks Pagan for the donut refund it wasn't really necessary, but it's a welcome gesture. Like I said I'm not pissed at you or anyone who put together the scenario. It all sounded like fun to me to before I was out there. From the sounds of it my guys were in the minority and people mostly enjoyed the game. Thank you to SK for hosting. I realize you guys are doing the best you can. I've always had great experiences with you guys previously and I'm no less likely to be at the next one. Sent from my XT1080 using proboards

If they were walking about and playing/shooting with Red lights on that's pretty stupid of them given red lights and rags are the universal 'I'm dead' sign in airsoft.

Greenside here. I'll start off with a usual 'I don't know how we won.' Strangely, usefulness of our squads seemed to progress numerically: - 1st was very cooperative early on, and when I linked up with some of them in the end they still proved useful;
- 2nd was very active on comms and mission oriented (much better than I expected from the start), and stuck together fairly well in the latenight mission, and didn't even handle themselves horribly assaulting 'fort knox';
- 3rd did as asked for the most part (although they left without saying a word, and I couldn't tell that they were gone until I rolled into the pavilion and all their gear was gone.
- 4th over-interpreted the notion of 'guns for hire' and allowed the other team to give them doughnuts. I... really don't have a problem with that. It wasn't intended and it was pretty annoying to have sprung upon us, and you seemed to bug the BLUFOR just as much, so at least you're fair... apology accepted, anyway.
- 5th was nigh impossible to contact or actually issue new orders to, but to the best of my knowledge they were responsible for getting us in contact with the Doctor Swarm and finding the trigger device, plus they were constantly keeping the baddies on edge, so cheers.
XO Novak did his job well, filled in when I wasn't available to command the entire team because I wanted to micromanage a particular squad on a mission. We had some confusion over landmarks, but I want to give him sincere thanks for filling the role so well - plus, we had tons and tons of maps. Night mission was not as bad in my eyes as the majority opinion seems to say. Friendly fire is going to happen - if you REALLY want to avoid it, stick with your buddies VERY closely and don't lose track of anyone. This does, of course, have its own consequences. My main complaint there lies in a typical airsofter lack of aggression & communication - or willingness to get dirty, ie when a small team split off 2nd Squad with me to hit the flank of a US unit and one of our members refused to go lower than a low squat (the only cover we had was uncut grass, GET DOWN) and also would not move to the next piece of hard cover - anyway, he got spotted and got the rest of the team knocked off. Objectives-wise, from early in the game it was determined that I was down to only about 60% strength, so we had to cut attention to some things. I decided that finding the vials and associated components was the primary objective. A secondary was to meet with Romero - we did this - and protect him from the enemy. His PSD was absolutely enormous; it would have taken me more than half the strength I had available to properly contain and defend them - and no one wanted to stand around babysitting roleplayers anyway, I opted to let them do their own thing. Similar situation with the Reverand - after chatting with him for a bit, realizing that the US would have to take him alive and that he was completely capable of getting out of any tight spots on his own, I didn't feel it was necessary to assign a squad to guarding him. And we were supposed to defend our FOB - but there was nothing there that needed to be protected. So- running shorthanded, we opted to focus efforts away from specific scenario requirements. Roleplayers in airsoft are almost exclusively wankers anyway, so while I really do appreciate you guys as players and promoters of the sport (honest!), civil affairs is REALLY not what we're out there for. (Besides, the point of keeping Romero under wraps was to prevent him from helping make a vaccine - I had more than half a mind to issue orders to execute the lot of you once we knew that you didn't have the virus or any of its component parts in your possession, and that's WITHOUT knowing about use of sarin gas on the field.) Props to tadkins, Soulless (for his goofy grenade charge on his own guys), Kjones & the NVG crew who I raided the castle with towards the end, our equally troubled opposition, and of course Pagan and friends for setting this whole shebang up, keeping it all neat, building props, and finding reliable volunteers to keep things running relatively smooth even late into the night. Oh, final thing - Are you talking about the 'tan' player who was wearing full woodland BDU with a bit of jute sewn on? Get real, kids, you're intentionally making the situation more complicated. There was a time where I was trying to escape back to friendly lines through the brush and was spotted by tan guys - who thought that I was 'that sniper in the woodland' and called me out for friendly fire. Being NOT as ass, I informed them I was actually as green as I looked. Airsoft could be VERY easy - put Woodland/OD on one side, and ACU/DCU on the other. No multicam, no black, no contractor. Blame the players who can't/won't meet these simple requirements for whatever team ID issues you're having.

I'm not really going to get into some of the frustrations I had with the game mechanics or other things dealing with some if our team's lack of experience. I will say that we didn't seem to get rewarded for any of the creativity we tried to bring to the game, which was a little disappointing, but we dealt with it. There was definitely a lot of friendly fire especially after dark. Some is to be expected, but it was pretty horrible at times. I both witnessed people friendly firing on other people, and myself was friendly fired upon. I will say it is quite frustrating, but in the end a simple walk back to spawn is all that is needed. It's been said over and over, and there's even a thread about it, ID your target. It's that simple. If there is any question, turn on your light. If you still aren't sure, don't fire. If they then fire at you, shoot back. 9 times out of 10 simply observing which direction someone is facing will clue you in to which team they are on. The only time that doesn't work is when you are beyond the enemy's front line. The next observation I made was the lack of some people wanting to call themselves out until they made sure it wasn't friendly fire. If your shot, your dead. It doesn't matter who shot you. If you want to investigate whether it was friendly or not, put your dead rag/chem light up and then investigate. Along these same lines, I know that friendly fire was happening on the green team as well, since on two occasions the guy I shot out was trying to find out if his own team shot him (I like to sneak past my targets and attack from side or rear positions so I know why they thought it was friendly fire). I was not aware of a second "merc" group. If there was one I can't speak to their actions. I don't believe there was any second merc group. I believe the second merc group that was being mentioned on the radio, and talked about from squad to squad, was the group of doctors. They were basically acting as a merc group since they were armed and were supposedly not sided with anyone. Though if they had communications with the green team, and were giving them viruses and trying to sell them triggers, you would think they would be sided with the green team. Edit: I almost forgot. I'd like to thank whoever it was of the ODA guys that accepted the bang kill from me. You were on the long bridge side, it was within the last hour (I believe) of the game. You were popping out from one side of the spool, I went on the other side and bang killed you but unfortunately was shot within seconds of doing that. I just wanted to thank you for your sportsmanship. I have to buy NVGs, you guys were just too deadly with them.

I don't believe so, because they had them on the back on their helmets. But the cheap nvg's is a possibility

NODs made a huge difference but also got me killed when I should not have. NO depth perception at all walked past 5 tans and right into an ambush my hats off to them well done. Enjoyed meeting up with the other 3 cats with nods on at bunker hill and working our way to the castle, team work was amazing and effective when using all our resources. Tan you guys absolutely rocked holding that castle and where quick to realize we had a squad of nods just outside. Your teamwork and communication stopped us from crossing to the island for a good hour. Once again hats off to the tans. All in all great time FF was an obvious issue but was planned on. Sorry to anyone that I shot after they were dead I appologized in person when possible ,red glow sticks were very hard to see. Great playing with all you guys and the gal out there!
